I found that with 175mm cranks and platform pedals I’d get pedal strike v easy with my omnium ‘classic’ which I think is v similar or the same geo as Jon’s bike. With a 700c wheel. I changed cranks to 160 and not an issue anymore.
But I reckon if you’ve got average length cranks dropping the bb would be annoying
