The view at Luton has been improved by sticking some extra floodlight pylons in the stand.

I don’t know why Onana won’t use his hands.

Twitter / X is amazing reading at the moment. Some football fans are really special.

Klopp asking for a replay.

Apparently nothing like this has ever happened before. Except for the other times VAR got things wrong.

Phenomenal stuff, even by their own extremely self-entitled standards.

It's not quite the same tho, is it? There's human error on a subjective decision, and then there's a shambolic miscommunication during which VAR clearly reached the correct decision but somehow didn't manage to convey that to the referee. You could maybe draw parallels with the goal that was disallowed a few seasons back because the goal line technology malfunctioned, but that's an electrical failure rather than human, which is harder to swallow I think.
He doesn't really ask for a replay, he acknowledges that it's not going to happen and I'd suggest is taking that line because he knows it will get headlines and apply pressure to the powers that be in ways that him just ranting won't achieve.
All of this 'self-entitled'/'always the victims'/worst fans business, I just don't get. I'm not on twitter, which I guess might explain it. It certainly doesn't chime with the experiences I've had at many live matches and countless in the pub. It does have some unpleasant echoes to me of the vile post-Hillsborough stuff that went around but I'm sure that's not how anyone intends it.

But even he has said he's not concerned about why it is different from anything else.
And "I think the only outcome should be a replay" is about as close to saying "I would like a replay" without actually saying those words, whether or not he thinks it will ever happen.
From here:
"
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said: "The audio didn't change it at all because I was not really interested in why things happened because I knew - I saw the outcome, I saw the goal and we scored. It didn't count so I was not waiting for the audio and a statement and hoping to find out how it could happen. He added: "I think the only outcome should be a replay. That's how it is, [although that] probably will not happen."
"I don't buy in to the "self-entitled" stuff myself. The majority of people I know who bang on about that are Man U fans just trying to wind up hated rivals. Not supporting a Premier League team has its benefits (such as rarely ever being affected by VAR, or ever expecting a reasonable standard from match-day officials).

I get the supporters' team bias, I do...but Liverpool supporters should move on >>>>>
VAR mistakes happen, they shouldn't, but they do and it will continue to happen. Hollow apology has happened which will change nothing. Move the fuck on please. Here, twitter/X, instagram et al.

Any other club, we’d be talking about something else now.
-
• #166540
If it was Man U? Chelsea? Not a chance.
Most LFC fans I know and on LFC forums, don't support a replay and say we need to move on because nothing is going to change.
-
• #166541
There hasn't been an apology, just an acknowledgement that a mistake was made.
Its the PGMOL who said they will conduct a full review, so its that body who are dragging it on, along with the media.
-
• #166542
I’m not talking about the fans, but the club itself is a massive pile of entitlement.
Read the presser and now Klopp’s comments.
-
• #166543
I can't believe that the only reason VAR can stop active play is because of a red card, surely a goal mistake is as important!??? Perhaps they need to change that rule.
-
• #166544
I have.
He gets asked the question and he answers. He'd like a replay, but knows he's not going to get one. I don't see the problem.
-
• #166545
If it was Man U? Chelsea?
They're both perfectly capable of losing without VAR's intervention.
-
• #166546
It’s a passive aggressive statement with the intent of pressuring the league. Briefed by the club, probably, because I believe Klopp is a decent fella.
-
• #166547
Listen. We just need to get Onana to use his hands. 😂

Stop it now!
You don’t think he is? Loyalties aside.

I think he's given a lot of uncritical goodwill for being a bit avuncular and offbeat in some interviews. But he's definitely one of the worst when it comes to referee abuse on the pitch and off, which seems to be glossed over because he sometimes comes across like a kinda uncool/cool uncle.
