No worries. Part of me craves a labelled version, and with that, confirmation that each is a different variety.

What varieties are good for a smokey flavour? Not looking for crazy heat per se.
@spinnnout I wouldn’t say no to some aji seeds as well if there’s any spare but don’t go out of your way for me.Next years varieties(because I love random eBay chilli sellers and can’t resist)
Sugar rush peach - medium
Habanero pink - hot
Turkish snake - medium
Tres longes - mild
Mini yellow bell - sweet peppersI think I’m getting a bag of mixed super hot as well from one of the sellers.
I’ll be offering up seedlings when the time comes as no doubt I’ll have way more than I need ;) -

What varieties are good for a smokey flavour?
You mean what varieties are suitable for smoking them yourself, or which taste "smokey" themselves?
Regarding the former, classic jalapeños are good (as in: chipotle) - although to be frank I'd just look for ready made conditements, even the 'chipotle' Tabasco variant is pretty good I'd say.
If the latter, I'm not sure.. would probably go for cayenne types ..Check out Semillas La Palma if you haven't already!

I was going for ones with a naturally smokey flavour but of course you’re right and what I’m thinking of are ones that have been dried and smoked most likely.
That website is ace, must fight the urge to go mad on there.

I know the feeling..
..worth it though in my opinion, service and quality of the seeds has always been great 👍 -

Time to work through the lemon drop! First batch of jam done and seeds are being dried.
Picked up a fermentation jar earlier to give a sauce a try.

Still fucking around planning for next year.
Is there a reason everyone on YouTube seems to grow in pots rather than straight into the ground? I’d rather grow in the ground as been spending a lot of time improving the soil in the bed I’ll be using.
Not really seen any arguments for/against but appears pots are the norm. -

I don't know about the YouTube people, but even if I had a garden I'd start in pots (indoors, with artificial light, in February / March), this way I have proper established plants by the time temperatures are high enough to plant them outside (in May)..

Oh yes I was absolutely planning on starting early(got a nice heated propagator mat last year), just was wondering why I see rows of pots sitting on top of perfectly good soil a lot of the time :)
I’ll keep a few in pots in the potting shed(it gets good light and heats up nice) and a few on the balcony at home but hoping to have room for at least a dozen or more in the ground under cover. I just figured it’s always better to be in the ground from a watering/nutrients point of view so assumed I was missing something. -

I guess having them in pots means you can keep them under glass easier and also measure your inputs, nutrient-wise. Also with some plants restricting the roots helps increase fruit production.

However, all my chillis that are in the ground are doing much better than those in pots, but that could be a location thing - I have them in a place on the allotment which gets good sun for most of the day.

I’m currently massively overthinking the bed for next year. It’s in a good spot, had spuds in there this year.
Dug it over, cardboard and a good layer of fresh fancy soil. Kale and beets went in today which will hopefully be finished in time for the chillis to go out in May.
Building a hoop tunnel for it later this week.I like the idea of an olla pot in the centre of each block of 4 plants, some companion plants and a layer of straw.
I wasn’t happy with this years chillis outside uncovered(crap summer didn’t help) so determined to go all out next year. -

All my outdoor chilli's have been fucking stolen from a communal garden, someone cleaned the whole lot despite signs requesting they not be touched. Pretty fucking gutted. I had some nice stuff.

That's gutting. May the perpetrator accidentally rub their eyes after handling them all.
Armageddons are so fruit, one of my favourites.
