Check out SportsBikeShop . com for gear.
Delivery is always swift, prices are good, returns are easy.Don't be put off by the name, it is not only race gear they sell.
I like to wear textile trousers over regular jeans, Oxford and Spada are my current go-to for trousers (a size or two larger than I am)
I have "expensive" Alpinestars jackets because I used to commute 12 months on a motorbike and they were better fit and weather protections, but I also have an armoured hoody and an armoured shirt for summer trips to the shops if I don't want all the protection (I know the risks and I take them, generally I am slower on those journeys than I have been on a road bike in lycra on other routes) -
Akin Moto are excellent quality, look cool and work great if you don't mind ordering online and shipping from Australia... still very affordably priced even after shipping!
I've got an older version of their Alpha jacket and I'll be replacing it with the new one and the matching trews (I might also get a pair of their riding chinos to make up for that shipping cost) before winter kicks in proper 'round here. -
Re clothing, if you're starting out I think a jacket is definitely somewhere you can save money. There are always loads second hand - people on here may even have old spare ones they don't need. Even NOS often gets heavily reduced, so there really is no reason to spend much if you're on a budget.
The returns policy on sports bike direct is excellent so they are the go-to if you want to try loads of kit mail order.
I'd probably suggest poneying up for decent gloves from a shop. I've wasted loads on budget gloves. Measurements are never consistent enough, batches can vary so even two pairs of identical gloves can fit differently ime.
Hey folks, I have been restoring/building a 85 CD125T over the summer and have my CBT booked in for the end of the month which is exciting!
Just wondering if there are any 'budget but good' clothing brands out there. Im new to the motorbike world but excited to get the bike built and ready for some rides!
