Does a Phil and your chosen cog give you a standard 42mm chainline?
If so there should be a specified spindle type/length to give a ‘track’ 42mm chainline with whatever chainset you have.

If you’re attached to the frame why not send it to a framebuilder and get the down tube replaced?

I was thinking about it but I'm not sure it makes economic sense - might see if I can find someone to give me a quote once my shoulder has stopped hurting.

Frontal impact? Then there will probably be more damage/misalignment than just that down tube.

Frame builder will cold-set the front fork. Possibly there will be a small crinkle on the underside of the front end of the top tube — if so, that too will need to be replaced. No doubt you can guess how I know this.

If you can, show it to Winston at Varonha, may not be as bad (financially) as you think...

Thanks all - all good suggestions.
Yes, it was a frontal impact, someone rode into me head on. The rest of the bike seems OK, but as you say there may well be stuff I haven't seen.
Yeah, sorry. My grasp on these things is becoming a bit rusty.
Yes, 68 spindle width, thanks.
And looking at the transmission database I guess I should go for the 68 x 110 mm variety?
Got a Phil hub.
