one of the 4 bins my building has ,wasn't collected. I reported it (using the 'love clean streets' app) at about 09h, and a small van came and collected the missing portion within an hour.
Nice work local London's famous London council.

Hammersmith and Fulham have moved to a two collections in a day pick up.
First collection is 'general' rubbish, then they come back to collect recyclable material. Unfortunately I missed both so will have to update on another Monday. Apparently this is all to do with the soon to be introduced waste food caddies.

They keep rolling out different plans in different parts of the borough. In my area they've been really poor lately. Lots of rubbish left behind.

We have been doing this down my way (Bath) for probably 7-8yrs. It works really well and we all have much smaller general waste wheelie bins that only need collecting every other week due to the amount that goes into the recycling bins.

We get a weekly food waste and cardboard collection with general and glass/plastic every other week. Garden waste an also be collected weekly.

H&F update.
A different bin lorry collects all the recycling in one go, so in my case, the recycling is collected about 6 hours after the main rubbish collection. -

Happened this week, recycling was not far behind bin lorry. The week before a lot of recycling was left in bins.

Put the recycling out, waiting for storm Agnes to throw it to the four winds as they say!

Does anyone collect the plastic film stuff and take it to the supermarket for recycling? Trying to figure out how to make this easy for the other inhabitants in my des res. Figure it would reduce black bin to nearly zero.

Yeah we do that - Our local Saino and co-op accept it. Our general waste bin is never over 1/2 full each fortnight. We don't wash everything, but give most things a quick rinse.

Bradford CC announced today they will be putting bins on their side to avoid unnecessary injuries.

What do you use in the house to collect the stuff? I wondered about a bin with a letter box top.

Bag for life which we decant at the shop, or use empty bread bags, etc and just chuck the entire lot into the appropriate bin.
Don't buy a big piece of plastic for the purpose of reducing plastic waste. -

Garden waste collection missed last Friday. Ironically on the same day I paid for renewal of the service. Reported twice, collected today. Glass and plastic due to be collected today, missed, reported.
