Busted B&M Dynamo light - connector

Posted on
  • Hey
One of the spade connectors on my Luxos u gave up and snapped, have disassembled the light and seen the 4 connectors soldered onto the board. Anyone have a broken light I can source one of these connectors from or alternatively anyone know what these connectors are called?

I emailed sjs but they said it would have to go back to B&M which seems a faff for a 5 mins soldering job

    Thanks!

  • They are just spade connectors aren't they - pretty sure they're 2.8mm, though the RS site suggests there's a choice of thicknesses, as well as different choices of crimp or PCB connection. (I'm guessing that a box of 18,000 at a mere £2.3k might be a bit excessive too, so choose wisely ...)

  • Yeah I figured but all the ones I could find online had crimped ends (ie ones you use to connect to the hub or connect to these connectors). It doesn’t show it but underneath the black rubber the spade connectors are flat. Maybe a trip to the electrical store

  • Some of the ones available from that RS link are flat-ended, or otherwise designed to be soldered to a PCB - otherwise maybe solder a flying lead to the board and crimp a male connector to the other end? Might need something to help with strain relief where it exists the lamp body

  • I’ve almost certainly got one somewhere. I’ll have a look.
