the trails have not developed that much, from what I can see … the same level of terrain and runs they were 20 years ago,
I’ve noticed climbs getting harder. I think trail builders are taking straight lines up the hill instead of doing switchbacks, which obviously saves time, effort and materials, and they are probably doing so on the basis of people being on e-bikes and will be able to tackle the steeper gradient.
Or maybe I’m just getting old!

and fat, don't forget fat.

Given how solipsistic your entire approach appears to be, one wonders why you’re bothering to inflict it on anyone else.
We get it, you have a weird kink. Shut up about it, go buy an old bike and ride it.

But you ask questions with absolutely no intention whatsoever of taking on board the answers, which makes this an endless and somewhat pointless process.

So just go buy a fucking bike then. I don't understand the problem.
Oh wait I do, you're right and everyone else is wrong and you can't cope with that.

This is better posted in the Orient Express thread but anything to change the subject away from the troll....
It's finally happened! Chinese clones of Trickstuff are here. I think I'm going to volunteer myself as guinea pig and order a set.
Very shady but I don't think I can help it.

I've got a Voodoo Banshee in 26" you can have for £8500 as is.

There's been some very similar looking master cylinders on AliEx for a while now, albeit with Hope copied calipers. They were considerably cheaper than these though! Are the pistons even the same size as Trickstuffs?

TS - 16 and 17mm
Lewis - 14 and 17Just spend that money on Hopes?

Just spend that money on Hopes?
lolz Hope are the last brakes I'd spend money on... Well, that not true since I just bought a 2002 set of mono m4 brakes for my daughters bike. But Hope are still shit.
The Trickstuff Maxima brake uses 16/17mm pistons but the Lewis LH-4 brakes are clones of the Direttissima brakes that use 14/17mm pistons in the C42 caliper.
I'm not going to stand here and say that these brakes will offer the same performance of Trickstuff but I'm happy to gamble £250 to find out!
Although it's more the Piccola clones that interest me for my short travel bike. -

😂
'89 is probably when I got my first MTBy city bike.
Neon yellow/black with incredibly nice black plastic Shimano sis and black mudguards is what I remember. -
• #27292
Out of interest what do you think is shit about hope brakes? Having tried Shimano and SRAM I think they're the best of the three.

We don't want that though, do we...

I'm not really being completely serious.
To be fair, I haven't actually ran a set for years. But Hope brakes were always underpowered compared to the competition and over priced for what you got.
I moved from hope brakes to Saint brakes about 10 odd years ago and couldn't believe how much more powerful they were. I ran Saints for a few years but I was plagued by leaky calipers and levers then moved to Code RSC brakes in 2017 and have set of them on each of my mtb's.I'm sure Hope aren't really that shit these days. I'm not sure how powerful the current gen are since I haven't used them but I'm stuck in my way of thinking Hope are a bit form over function!

They really addressed the power issues and system friction. Tech 4s are monsters now

I'd like to try the V4's, although the first reviews of them said they could feel inconsistent? Although going by reviews is useless. None of my riding pals have them so haven't had the chance.
fwiw I actually run Cascade calipers with code levers.
I don't know if I really will spend the money on the Lewis brakes, but I like the look of the Piccola levers, I'll maybe wait until there are some online reviews first...
I only posted them in an attempt to move things along from the 26" trolling chat!

Why don't you just buy a gravel bike with 2.1" tyres? You can ride them off stairs no bother.

Ok sorry. In the interests of moving on, what you want does actually exist:

On top of that, the trails have not developed that much, from what I can see. Unless you're at the pointy end of world class competition, people are riding the same level of terrain and runs they were 20 years ago, but now the really hard shit is just hard thanks to advancements in bike design and technology.
