fettling the SG. Hadn't realised that the intonation ws a total mess
I utterly despise the faff of setting intonation of those bridges. Having to remove the string and pop it back on between making adjustments because the screw is in line with the string seems like such a baffling design choice.
Also being constrained by only being able to set the string height using two screws instead of per-string (though that's a more understandable design choice than the intonation screws).
Definitely not knowledgeable enough to comment on their impact on playability, but from a maintenance point of view I hate those bridges.
Had a day off on Weds, spend a happy couple of hours fettling the SG. Hadn't realised that the intonation ws a total mess. Sorted that and tweaked th bridge up a smidge, conditioned the fretbard, lubed the nut and gave it a good clean. It's such an awesome guitar.
Got a couple of shims to try and dial in the action on the Scroungo-strat. At the moment the saddles need to be cranked right down to get the action accepatble. Hoping a 1mm 1 degree shim will be enough to raise and tilt the neck so i'll be be able to set the action an the saddles without having the screws poking out of the top.
