Ah, sorry, very, very OT specific question - the DT levers. They're fitted on standard bosses? Are they a specific model? Am asking as I have a band-on set that don't fit bosses. Anyone know? Apologies again for the derail. Lovely biek btw.

@crossedthread ... The shifters are fitted to standard bosses as far as I can tell. This style of simplex ones (boss style) can be bought 2nd hand on ebay etc no problem. They were on the bike when I bought it.

I’ve managed to secure some. They are a slightly different size lol so I will shortly have all the shifters!

These are becoming quite rare - Simplex SLJ, sometimes badget Huret or Galli (have these) or even Mavic, they were considered an upgrade from Campaq ones as there was less issues with slipping etc.
Nice bike, so BUMP and GLWS

Nice. I had no idea to be honest about improved function Vs campag. They do look rather handsome as well IMO !

Lovely bike. I’ve seen it up on eBay haven’t I?

Lots of pros used them in the 70s on otherwise full Campagnolo bikes. Their retrofriction design was easier to shift. Campagnolo copied it but only made a few and they are very rare.

I think Merckx used Simplex Retrofriction DT levers as Campag friction levers were not very good…these are the best.
8 or 9 speed? Do the DT levers manage to shift the rear mech through all the gears comfortably?
How do you manage to keep white bar tape so clean? Impressive….lovely bike.

Market for second-hand bikes seems to have dropped dead, even for such a fine classic example as this! Perhaps a lot of people 'on here' are struggling with mortgage payments?

Seems to have now sold on the bay…

Hey sorry for the silence. Had a hiatus from the forum. The bike sold twice on eBay and I was trolled both times leading to failed sales. I'll wait for the spring and try again.

Yeah sure is. I could split but just don't have the energy. Maybe come spring I might split.

The shifting is magic. So so smooth. No slippage at all. Works super well with the campag. As for the white tape ... dry summer miles. Cover 8 speed I think.
Hi All,
Had this for about 5-6 years. Summer miles only etc. Looks and rides like an absolute dream. Lovely panto on the frame (rear brake bridge, head tube lugs, seat tube cluster and BB shell). It looks the absolute nuts. I really do love this but familiar forum story - I just don't use it enough to justify keeping it and am just building up a Max frame so this has to go.
Its 54 ctc square. I am 173cm (5ft 8) and as set up in the photos it fits me perfectly.
Seat tube is 27.2 so pretty sure it is Columbus SLX (tubing decal is no longer there). Original Tommasini Air forks.
The chrome is in very good condition. The paint is in good nick but not perfect for sure and I have tried to show the chips etc. There is an area on the seat tube that has sustained some sort of scratching (before my time) that has taken paint off in an area about 1cm by 3cm wide.
I been doing some pondering over pricing, thinking £750. I am sure peps will shout out if I am off! strong text
No splitting for now please. Any questions or extra photos are needed ask away.
Rather not post but can do within the UK at buyers expense. Based on London, SE19 and viewing welcome.
Thanks for looking.
