  • I fell foul of wera, as if im Goldilocks, replacing this £8.50 stubbie ratchet screwdriver with £125 (old prices) of bit holding screwdrivers. Ones too heavy ones too small and one too gimmick - what happened! The perfect pocket fit one turned up

  • Well these are nice. Even the ball end feels nice and sharp. Makes you suddenly realise how fucked most of your socket heads actually are...

  • It's a shame the covers come off a bit too easily, I prefer the cheaper ones, but the actual heads are great and the 2mm has saved me so much time.

  • This showed up too, should cover me for most things. I decided I'm too old to be messing around with threaded rods and washers, and seeing as I'm amassing a collection of drifts now (thanks full sus mountain bikes!) it seemed sensible to get this too. Incredibly satisfying to spin the handles 🤤

  • That's MMmmmmMMMMmmmmmMMMMMMmmmmmm nice.

  • The website/product are porn in themselves. Thinking of getting some of them tasty kitchen scissors

  • All the ones at work have been degloved by now. The plain stainless steel ones seem in much better nick.

  • I've had the long snips on a list for myself and a christmas present

  • I actually decided not to buy these, but forgot I'd put a bid on some and won. Glad I did, they're very clever. I don't think I'll use anything other than the XS day to day, but nice to have. They feel much nicer than my shitty old spanners from Lidl, haha

Also got my case, it's the larger one so that means I'll go for 4 layers of 50mm deep Shadowfoam. Pretty sure I know what to put in the first two layers for ease of reach, just need to decide where things go on the layers below. I also need to work out some sort of PVC cover for the lid layer tools to stop them dropping out when it's shut. Not sure how I'm going to secure it yet

  • Was on the Saxton Blades site looking for something else,
    and,
came across these: impact & magnetic, 89mm £13.99 for the set of 10.
(I really only use Torx head screws, on new or maintenance work,
but those old Philips and Pozi-drive screws are everywhere).

  • this is lovely. Would be wasted on me though, just removed and refitted BB and Headset with a hammer and a piece of wood. why i love bmx.

  • I got a similar set of five pozi, magnetic, 50mm, black with the red band.

They stop being magnetic pretty quick and I’ve shattered most of them.

  • Also from Saxton?
Do they respond to a magnetizer?
    Which impact driver shattered them?

  • eBay unbranded
    Don’t know
    Bosch 12v

  • Not the torquiest driver, then.

  • I’d wear eye protection if you’re going at decking screws with an 18v

  • Fuck it, I just cracked on with it after making a list of stuff I thought I used the most and least. Next layer down will likely have hanger tool, bearing drifts, specific-to-bike tools and some spanners. Bottom layer will be bleed kit stuff and anything left over

  • What's really annoying is the pelicase copy I bought is missing a hinge part. I've been through three different companies now who are all "we don't make it, it's from these guys" so tracking down spare parts is a ballache. Lesson learned in going with lesser known brands, I guess...

  • I regret putting a peli case out on the street with a Free sign on it last month now

  • You two are going to a fucking hell where you’re only allowed to use Ikea hex keys.

  • If you don’t genuinely need the waterproofing/airtightness/nuclear blast protection of a pelican(style) case, then they’re just a bulky & heavy box which are totally crap to carry.
If you’re shipping it lots, or working outside a lot, they’re obviously good for that. Not my use case.

Been a field engineer for 7-8 years and routinely decant the standard pelican cases that the company provide into more useful, smaller/lighter/flexible bags.

  • This is more an exercise in knowing where all my tools are better than "in that pile inside that broken plastic tub in the cramped shed"
I can pull the pelicase case out now and know that everything is there, easier to find. Occasionally I need to chuck everything in the car for long trips, so that was a factor too

  • the pelicase copy

From the link posted on previous page, have peli gone madly up in price? The copy didn't seem cheap...

Neat work on the tools inserts!

What was wrong with the one you've chucked in the street? I thought they were indestructible (got a couple of them, I'll certainly die before anything goes wrong with them)
