  • If you don’t genuinely need the waterproofing/airtightness/nuclear blast protection of a pelican(style) case, then they’re just a bulky & heavy box which are totally crap to carry.
    If you’re shipping it lots, or working outside a lot, they’re obviously good for that. Not my use case.

    Been a field engineer for 7-8 years and routinely decant the standard pelican cases that the company provide into more useful, smaller/lighter/flexible bags.

  • This is more an exercise in knowing where all my tools are better than "in that pile inside that broken plastic tub in the cramped shed"
    I can pull the pelicase case out now and know that everything is there, easier to find. Occasionally I need to chuck everything in the car for long trips, so that was a factor too

  • Sure, I guess my only (and that’s arguable !) point is you can only find the “right” answer when you’ve asked the right question. Goose/gander etc
