  • As long as you disconnect it from the gas first, you should be golden.

  • I transported my FB marketplace smeg range cooker on its side in the car and fiery death so far avoided.....

  • Thanks both

  • I know I should probably just get a dynamo setup, but are there any decent battery lights with the 'phased' beam of a dynamo light. Not sure what it's called, tapered maybe?

Anyway battery lights that give good illumination, but don't blind everyone.

  • I've moved into a house where the rear garden wall drops c. 4.0m directly to a small river that borders a park thats locked at night.

House is in a terrace with no access to rear gardens from the street at all for at least 20 houses in each direction.

I basically have a moat protecting my back garden and so I'm thinking the existing garden shed is actually going to be fine to store bikes for once? Have I not considered something?

Or should I just get an Asgard for the front anyway?

  • Have I not considered something?

    Pirates

  • @stevo_com is the only moat / park / shed / back garden combo person I can think of.

  • Orcs with siege ladders are a possibility

  • I am thanks to Norbury Brook separating me from Thornton Heath Rec. The rec being very much not locked at night. Now built up with retaining wall and fence. The fence being privacy giving more than security as the gap on the neighbours side is still there. The main thing is I've not heard tell of anyone making the journey from rec to back garden before. Nor has my neighbour who has lived here for 25+ years.

  • I take it the drill chuck doesn't quite go big enough for that bit!

  • Populate the river with crocodiles?

  • It's not stupid if it works.

  • Ah OK, you have fencing on the park side too, whilst in this park you can get into the water and paddle if you wanted.

Just how far would someone be willing to go for a 10 speed Di2 rim brake bike?

  • If it’s a tributary of the catford/ linear river walk thing - that river is so dirty if anyone goes in it they’ll die.

  • I use Experian typically to keep an eye on credit rating. I pay for the better insight version and it's fairly clear and seems accurate.

I just noticed my NatWest app offers a credit check through TransUnion so I had a look. My rating there is dogshite and includes lots of seemingly incorrect information (like suggesting I've had a Santander account for 24 years - I've never had a Santander account to my knowledge).

How can I go about finding out whether I signed up with them as a reckless 13 year old, whether someone is doing something in my name, or whether TransUnion have got it wrong?

  • I'd say contact NatWest directly. I have been a long term customer and have the same weird ass credit discrepancies.

I get praised for only using a small percentage of available credit, and then equally am told that I should borrow more money to raise my score because my total lines of credit are quite small.

My boss was complaining that his says his score is low because he has no mortgage, but that's because he owns his place outright.

Similar here. It's bizarre. Other things like dates of missed payments in the past are off as well which makes me think it's just gibberish. But I guess I'll get in touch with them.

  • I've never had a Santander account to my knowledge

Did teenage you deposit a couple of quid in one of the UK Building Societies which Santander has hoovered up over the years?

  • You can get your credit report from all 3 agencies for free

    ClearScore - Equifax
    creditkarma - TransUnion
    MSE Credit Club - Experian

Credit rating is nonsense, only the full report is worth paying attention to.

  • Probably a stupid idea, but what are the potential issues with mixing two different headsets, meaning lower part (cup+crown race) from brand A and upper part (cup+top+top cap) from brand B? Apart from the preload requirement that might be too different between the two to able to preload correctly?

It is for 1 1/8 straight external ahead headset, nothing particularly weird

  • Unlikely to be any issues - I've got a mix and match 1 1/8th straight headset and it's fine

  • I had a Chris Creek headset bitd or was it a Cane King. Seemed to work ok.

  • Apart from the preload requirement that might be too different between the two to able to preload correctly?

There's no difference, mostly because I've never seen a numerical value for preload in any headset manual. The preload is tiny compared with the service load on the lower bearing in any case

  • That’s a valid point! So in the end as others mentioned by experience there shouldnt be any issue. Cheers
