I think last year we rolled out about 8:30, can push it to 9! Mean pre and post ride drinks for me instead of getting lost from Bromley South and showing up late (I will probably get lost again)

Tickets booked for 4th Nov !

You should stay in London for Muddy Hell that evening.

I’m staying with friends that night. Back on the Sunday. They’re not bike people so it might be a hard sell! Can’t hurt to ask of course.

I was really impressed when Yal said he'd race that straight after doing the day's ride
-
• #32
Just realised HH is basically on my way to where I’m headed after the ride, can’t hurt to swing by.

This rolling pace on the flat or average including hills? Keen to come along and meet forum people in person but not sure about whether I'll be able to keep up.
-
• #34
We can be slow together, lol.
-
• #35
For anyone wondering if they will keep up with the main group, don't worry. I reckon I'll also struggle to match the pace up the hills so I will start with the group and, where it makes sense, do a shorter loop and roll back to the pub/cafe and meet everyone at the end. Anyone wanting to do something similar please join me.

Hiya! Only a few weeks away now. Soz I've been so quiet, however I'm definitely excited. Autumn is my favourite time of year, hopefully in a few weeks things will seem like winter is around the corner instead of tops off tins in the park weather we have atm.
But like like @c*j*f says there will options for those who aren't sure of the total elevation, and there will be waiting at the top!

Yes! No matter your speed or fitness, come out on your fixie. Message me if you are curious/keen and want to ask questions.

Coming out for December ride. Will bring along some Ride dumb patches. Can't wait!

Has a date for HDiJ been pinned down yet? Keen to keep it free
-
• #40
I'll get it pinned down!

Can’t make the 28th now :(
Don’t suppose anyone in the same boat in London would be up for some similarity-spirited fixed gear road stuff this Saturday? -
• #42
FYI - the big day is up...
-
• #43
Can't make the 28th either but keen on the 4th!

Some fixed miles today in preparation for the HDIJ preparation rides, lol. For such few miles, I feel absolutely battered.
Managed to drag myself all the way up Pool Bank, which was nice. Decided to keep going and had a stab at East Chevin - which went less well. Had to stop about 4 times. Once the power is spent, there’s nowhere else to go!
Then back round and up Creskeld.
Seems I need to do A LOT more of these if I want to survive HDIJ - and there isn’t exactly much time left. Eek.

Did a recce a couple of weeks ago to pole hill, it was dry then but under the bridge was still like a bog. I stayed on the raised path to the left. (the photo is from the other side, so looking down the hill)
For anybody that doesn't know old pole hill, the scenery picks up after the underpass, (as does the angle of ascent) It will also be slippery with wet weather forecast this week and a blanketing of fallen leaves. looking forward to it. -

Excellent reccey @falconvitesse - been aaaages since I've done Old Polhill so glad for this.

Can I get a hands up for who is aiming to come on the 4th of Nov? My partner has just stuck a half marathon in the diary for that day and considering she was insanely supportive during the first half of the year with my audaxing I can't say no.
There are many classy riders among you who could lead the ride so I'll either need someone to lead in my stead, or I could move the ride to the 11th. @Nef I know you booked train tickets down and I'm very sorry for the faffing here, but it's just one of those marriage balancing acts.
If the 4th works better for more people please stick with it, it will be just another straightforward Kent loop with maybe Ide Hill cafe in there somewhere. I can put it all together, you all just have to show up and ride it. Otherwise I can reschedule for the 11th. Soz.

If Nef is committed train-wise, I can do the 4th. Otherwise 11th is good for me.

Yeah I’m booked in on the train. Even if just one other person fancies a ride I’ll still ride. I’m coming down to stay with pals so not quite a completely aborted plan, but it would be nice to ride.
is it 8 or 9 start? I'm looking at trains into kings x, and earliest I can get in is 730. So 9 doable but 8 isn't :-/
