  • I'm only belatedly catching up on this Ramaswami dude. From the written descriptions I expected someone way more unhinged and manic, but seeing how telegenic he is I am getting quite worried. I can't imagine he's going to beat Trump, but he could become a quite influental cabinet member perhaps?

  • He’s one to watch, for sure. De Santos is the one that has me concerned. He has tons of money backing him and tons of production talent working for him, just look at the way they’re weaponising his wife on the campaign trail.

And he’s a hard line small govt repub, a racist, and has a hard-on for use of force.

  • Disantis has fucked it, his money is drying up, his support collapsing and his local party turning away from him.

  • He’s one to watch, for sure.

To compare to the UK, Ramaswami could become someone like Jacob Rees-Mogg, who from a slightly more secure position, away from the day to day hustle of the PM/Pres, could have an almost larger impact on ideology and policy than the front guy.

DeSantis is probably going to return to focus on future governor races for the time being. But as only very few Republicans are going to give Ramaswami a direct vote in a mayoral or guvernatorial election, Washington DC ought to be far more attractive to him
