Literally isn't. Place I go regularly has a lot of theft from us stands, they'd lost their last bike, so then got a new e bike. And a fagrabboiughit (yup). Locking only the seatpost.
Pointed it out to them, they literally didn't understand how it wasn't locked.
So politely moved it around in such a way to make it look more locked than it was. Then went to office securities desk and borrowed a spare company lock, put that in it and a very subtle note.Few weeks later, same again, put rhe spare lock on it and a separate note.
Yesterday went and again wasn't locked. So just left it, can't fix stupid apparently! Few of my mates had also told them it was a very good lock but they weren't using it right.
Today...... "my new ebike has been stolen, oh noes...."Like, literally what can you even do

People like this are why we have to pay so much for insurance
-
• #5284
When you were trying to explain to them that it wasn't locked, the best course of action would have been to "steal" it there and then.

I'd have run cable through saddle & front wheel. Hoping owner carried front wheel with them otherwise disappointing return awaits.

why do people do this? surely a crack head isn't going to get much for a front wheel...?
or are they just stealing the wheel hoping the owner leaves the bike, then they they go back and cut the lock later? -

Have been cautioned by several other visitors to Mile End leisure centre that there are thieves targetting the bikes right outside reception, with cordless angle grinders.
Could anyone recommend somewhere else within walking distance that I could lock up my bike?
-
• #5289
Maybe they are able to steal multiple wheels in an hour or two?

You only need the second one of those to know where the person bought the bike.

There a big Sainsburys two mins east of the Leisure Centre that has Sheffield bars by the main entrace, so a good flow of people and it feels safe to me.

Has someone nicked the top of a dropper?

That IS the saddle

Does look like that. Half a dropper must be worthless so hardly seems worth it.
Busy street ✅ expensive e-bike ✅ expensive D-lock ✅ just go with the £8:99 cable lock through the back wheel 🤦♂️
