  • Reaallll nice

  • Where is the EU list for these cages ?

  • No lists. This will one of those annoying hyped launches where everything is sold out when you finally load the site

  • needs a lufguss secret pre-release.

  • Catching up this thread is a dream. Such good work. Tijmens bike is awesome and looking forward to seeing Maj’s.

2 cages please. King cages I’ve found are actually not amazing and these look like they might compete with the joy of entering a bottle to an Arundel mandible.

  • I need to get on the EU list for those cages!

  • This thread is amazing, absolutely love the attention to detail and craftsmanship. Definitely going to spend some time going back through.

I absolutely adore the kids bikes!

  • Oh thank you very much. Glad you are enjoying it. It's been years of work and practicing but it's paying off soon

  • Excuse my ignorance and late reply (bit behind) but how do these work? Is the BB Axle splined or knurled in some way (presumably some kind of insert to mate with is added to these cranks) to prevent these from slipping? Or are they simply clamped tight on a round axle (like a headtube)?

Excellent work as always. Really enjoy the thread.

EDIT: Just read on a bit. It seems its a round axle and the arms are clamped on (given these parts are all handmade I'd imagine the fit is perfect). I suppose its a kids bike so unlikely to slip (fairly sure you've considered this - not suggesting you haven't). Unless she's a junior Forstermann in the making :) .

  • Yes. They work exactly like a stem. Zero slippage so far on these cranks. He first pedal bike (the green one) has had slippage once, but thye were tightened up and hasn't slipped since. Kids don't torque it same way grown ups do.

  • Sooooo we have been working on this powder coating oven for a couple of days and today we turned it on. The repurposed fridge was really smelly and the smoke wasn't nice so we aborted mission and decided to build one from scratch but using the steel panel from the outside of the fridge.

Insulation will be rockwool and it will be much much better this way.

  • Re the bottle cages. I've decided to make 150 in this first batch. Probably 50 Left, 50 right and 50 Symmetrical.

Any advice on starting a successful webshop and managing shipping prices and packaging is welcome.

  • sell via Stridsland…?! Purveyor of small batch bike weirdo bits.

  • Already chatting with him for advice. Not sure it will make sense for him to sell my products. At least we are in the same country so shipping rates won't benefit from having him sell them

  • 150, that's one list here.

  • 10 users with 5 bikes with 3 bottle cages.

  • Ha! We can make more later. This is what I can afford up front and make before bespoked 🤞

  • I know it's easy to say this but there doesn't exist a single side entry lowered bottle cage except the Zefal Wiiz which raises the cage off the tube so much that it then bumps into your other bottle cage, defeating the entire purpose.

  • And it still keeps the bottle in place

  • looking forward to live testing on the plummet.

also - once they are done curious to see how they play with stainless bottles!

  • Bottle cages are lovely! So nice.
I'll be up for a couple!

We use Shopify for selling, it's fairly flexible and lots of shipping options and things to customise. Not perfect and costs alot , but I think it's more powerful than the e-commerce on Squarespace back end....?

The tumbler can also do a fine satin polish with a fine media and the right compound. I never tried it and mostly used it for deburring small lasercut parts to be honest. I bought a bag of Maize to try, as that's meant to be good for polishing.... but haven't got round to it. You have to start with a pretty good finish already, so it didn't revolutionise my life unfortunately.

Look forward to seeing the powdercoating too 💪💪
