You're not wrong. Very similar. Suzuki looks better to me.

Reckon we're getting to a point in Motorcycling where bikes are going the same way as cars. They all look like a Quashquai. Quashki, Quashqui? Whatever, one of those.

Also, is it wrong to want something like a Pan European for shits and giggles? What's out there that's dirt cheap and reliable?
-
• #24105
Pan European would be worth it as long as you've got some big journeys planned. Overkill for the chip shop though.

My mate has a pan and is always talking about getting something else to handle the shits and giggles

VFR750 instead. Bit more Swiss army than a pan but almost as comfy.

Nice autumnal blast through the lanes this afternoon. Something weird happened with the battery though before setting off, the (lithium-ion) battery was dead as a dodo and only rode it 2 weeks ago. It didn't even have the juice to turn on the dash. Nuddah. Was fine after a charge but slightly baffling.

Lovely. Great day for it

I love the multi, the seat does cause issues to many hence the many seats you can get.
Personally the best mod to mine was the super light weight wheels as I bent the standard wheels, funny that the light weight wheels cost far less than replacement standard wheels.
But then I do like a Ducati.
When setting static sag, if there is not enough travel you need to fit a stronger higher rated spring. There is no way around it, if you want your suspension to work properly. Hence have a decent handling bike
Also the first multi was a fugly bike, and best viewed from the seat.

The boring shits and giggles. I have other wheels for those shits and giggles.
@Jung I'd fucking love a Goldwing for two up riding but they're not as cheap as on your side of the world. This will be for two up. VFR won't cut the cheese for comfort. Also sorry, I'm not as grizzled as you, I'd prefer the first gen 800.

The front wheel rim swap to the rear makes the bike a bigger hoot to ride.
Has the rear shock been replaced?

I regret not snapping up a full fat 1100 for just under a grand a few years ago. Big regret.
-
• #24114
REGRET.... understatement. Hope there was a very good reason. ;)
If you had the cash, I'd have encouraged you. But hey, we all make mistakes
If it makes you feel better the oe ohlins stuff was no better than the mazzochi/sachs stuff.

Modern lithium ion batteries often will not be compatible with older reg recs. Check it's charging on tickover - should peak around 4000 rpm within reason.

Disagree the viffer has a really comfortable seat for two up. Even with my fat arse on the pillion.
-
• #24117
Thought that was the selling point, that they are compatible.

Not sure. This was a few years ago when I wanted a two up bike. I ended up with a MS1200 which was a fucking beast. Partner didn't like the V-twin shunt, and I liked keeping my license, so that went.
Got a second gen VFR after that. she wasn't a fan, neither was I to be honest.
Rest is history. Hence the Pan Euro -

Everyone is different. Part of me prefers a partner not ride as a pillion, not sure I want to be responsible for other people, as occasionally I'm not sure of my state of mind.

You want a pan so you can listen to radio 2 as you ride...with a trailer tent.

I did my advanced course first two weeks on a vfr, third week on an early shape pan. Pans can really hustle along, always had a soft spot for them after that. Vfrs always felt like they got smaller and smaller as the years went on. We had a couple of the 750s at work but I always preferred the k1100rs we had as opposed to grabbing one of them.

I did my advanced course in November 1986 on a BMW R80 just like this but without the blue lights and radio pack and I lived to tell the tail.

Strange that they didn't fit the rear mudflap to those r80/7's
-
• #24124
To be honest, I can't rember if we had them then and that bike in the picture is off Pinterest and I think it's probably a bitsa. Those helmet badges probably weren't original fitment.

Love old BM's - must buy a fucked up one to revive over the Winter.
Front end just looks like this to me.
