The batshit crazy story of the day Elon Musk decided to personally rip servers out of a datacentre.

Most organisations have automated Chaos Monkeys. Elon is so behind the times doing it manually.

5200 whole racks.
I first parsed it as 5200 servers and thought "that's quite a few".

exploding head gif "soooo many wooooords"
I mean, we've all been there, right?

The CEO then told him that some of the floors could not handle more than 500 pounds of pressure, so rolling a 2,000-pound server would cause damage. Musk replied that the servers had four wheels, so the pressure at any one point was only 500 pounds. “The dude is not very good at math,” Musk told the musketeers.
Musk not very good at understanding that even if his arithmetic was accurate (article states earlier that the weight was higher), that's only true if the racks are perfectly balanced and not moving.

And only if each of the wheel was on a different section of floor? A bit of floor having a total pressure limit of 500 pounds presumably doesn't cover that section for multiple pressure points of 500 pounds

I wouldn't be surprised if server room floor tiles are typically designed to have a diagonal length that is smaller than the distance between casters on a 19" rack, purely to avoid more than one wheel ever being on the same tile.
(Obviously guessing as I've no idea what was in that particular server room.)
Nope, standard size is 600mm x 600mm which is generally shorter than front/back distance between casters (>800mm), but not the distance between the pairs of casters at the front or back (~450mm). Depends on rack obviously.

Pounds is not a unit of pressure. Just saying.

• #1035
It’s completely flawed maths.

• #1036
Elon: You have 90 days to change mathematics so that my maths is correct.

It’s not a unit of anything except in the US.

Bahahaha. Very good!

I rarely post anything on twitter but do interact with a few others. I just checked my profile and I have somehow reposted 1300 tweets. Wtf

Yet more companies finding Twitter now useless as a platform.
Twitter heading faster to "Truth Social with a slightly more competent cunt in charge" status. The fact that he was once significantly more competetent than the other asshole would be tragic if it weren't for the fact that he's such a cunt.

He also just announced they are going to trial $1/yr membership fees in NZ and the Philippines. A "not a bot" fee. This is gonna be fun 🍿

It's possible that, the more Twitter becomes just a mosh pit for Musk's delusional and gullible fanboys, the more cost effective a target it will be for bots. Talk about targeted advertising and a self-selected pool of easy marks.

Hadn’t used Twitter for a few weeks and logged back in to read by-election discourse. How come links no longer have captions? Really strange

I am only using it on desktop and clicked storm and flood hashtags to see news about that yesterday evening only to get graphic photos of dead bodies in Gaza amongst both. Upsetting and grim.

It’s unusable now.

Musk thought they were directing users away from Twitter, so told the engineering team to remove them.
Someone should've pointed out that he was directing users away from Twitter at a much higher volume.

I was a pretty heavy, habitual user and I don't really miss it. I have a look at Mastodon now and then instead but I only follow two people from twitter on that so it's not exactly a big time sink.

Haha looks like their API changes broke one of our sites.
