Great, now you got me all confused again :)

New youtube video collaboration with Canyon and Campagnolo and the guy doing the build is the perfect specimen for the Super Record Wireless demographic.

Haha, yes and no. I doubt anybody with a flat like that buying a bike like that is doing the whole build themselves.
I am looking forward to dentists ruining their sweet creme linen shorts with grease and their rustic reclaimed wooden floor with sealant and mineral oil after watching this romanticised video of setting up a bike with integrated cabling.

I’ve just ordered an Aethos Comp Rival AXS on cycle to work (my first new bike ever I think…) as it was heavily discounted and I’ve cracked my current frame.
Just went in to a shop to kill some time and had a look at all the Rival set-ups - I was wondering is the bar to lever junction always so janky? It looks like the hood is twice as wide as the wrapped bar - anyone solved this minor aesthetic issue?
Also had a feel of the 105 di2 levers which I think I prefer… sigh, buyers remorse looming 🤦♂️

It always looks like that. The best that can be done is being careful not to add more width to the shifters by wrapping tape around

Hmm, pretty annoying though right? I assume it’s not the same with the Red levers (not seen any in the flesh) - attached a picture of the rival hood/bar junction

Nice, make sure you ditch the Rival chainset, it probably weighs three times as much as the Aethos frame

Finally gotten my hands on SR WRL.. wow it’s ugly. What were they thinking? The front mech is mahoosive. It looks even bigger with the tiny chainring sizes.
And don’t get me started on the missing thumb shifter

Also - when you have your hands around the hoods (as if you were about to climb out the saddle), this massive hole digs into your fingers. Come on Campi 😢

Come on Campi
That's a straight red card.

Yeah I plan to - was trying to work out 12 speed rings for a silver Hollowgram Si cranks but praxis buzz are the only option currently…

Interested to hear your thoughts on the Aethos when it arrives. The lower spec ones are becoming a real temptation price wise.

The levers would look better without those holes.
The Canyon with WRL is not much more expensive than with Dura Ace. It must be a loss leader to get onto the market.

GRX 12speed is here

Any experiences with the Rotor 1x13 groupset? Seems to be heavily discounted at bike 24 (maybe a sign of its quality). https://www.bike24.com/p2328023.html

No experience, but you would have to add the 350€ cassette, which makes it a lot less bargainous..
-
• #8945
I think you can use it with Sram 12 speed. The 13 speed requires a special hub as well as the cassette.

Wasn't sure whether to post here or the WTF thread:
Attached link is a video from Campagnolo's Facebook page on 1st Sept, promoting them presenting Mario Cipollini with a bike. The below must've missed them:

Unreal!

Seems at least in the US/Canada there's finally a partial recall on certain bonded Shimano cranksets today:
https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2023/Shimano-Recalls-Cranksets-for-Bicycles-Due-to-Crash-Hazard
Wonder if we'll see that in other countries, or if that's happened but the info hasn't circulated yet.

~680,000 units, pretty nuts. Massive fuck up, at least they are admitting to it (after years of not!)
Edit: Acc to bike radar: Shimano says "Only owners of cranksets showing signs of “bonding separation or delamination during the inspection will be provided a free replacement crankset and installation." Which is pretty pointless as, likely if you are showing signs of delamination you probably are not too far off from a failure.

Looks like I'm going to be inspecting my cracks later.
