I’ve not raced for years so ignore me.
Palace has some tricky slopes that are incorporated into the course. It’s fast.
Do they still make the course go right, up the steep slope, down, back up the same slope, down before hitting the faster stuff and the barriers? -

The course map has just been published, looks totally different from previous editions:

I don’t have good enough knowledge of the park to know how that translates…

No dead man’s corner section, no snowflake of doom area.
Is this because “the grass! Wont someone think of the grass!?” -
• #10031
It looks like no big steep bank climbs. That bit down behind the skate park is a little hilly.
-
• #10032
They will never do another snowflake of doom, because of the consequences last time.

Time to make a comeback

"THE CONSEQUENCES"
Jesus. WEPT. it's grass.
Also, I don't want to trigger leggyblonde. -

East Brighton has to find another course this year because of the grass apparently it muddy for weeks afterwards 🙄

Cool thanks! First race in a few years, friend is joining for his first ever. Should be a laugh if the rain holds off.
-
• #10037
Should be more of a laugh if it doesn't.
My bike still isn't finished which means a repeat of last year..trying to learn how a bike corners mid race.

Think I’m out for Sunday. Dunno what’s up with me. Just been on a ride was planning 75km stopped after 25km heart rate going up pretty quickly and down pretty quickly, not out of breath not pushing it.
This was on the flat I’d expect my HR to be more like 135…

It was a particularly muddy edition last year. Can't say I'll miss that course though.
-
• #10040
Yeah, definitely wise to miss it, especially if your HR is off like that.

• #10041
+1

• #10042
Dunno if it’s my monitor or what. Felt like my heart rate was up but not out of breathe. All a bit weird.

I couldn't even ride the course last year is was so slimy. They're looking at the top of the hill on the old BMX track which is probably where it should have been in the first place. I doubt they'll feature the 180 wall ride if its still there

• #10044
Ready before the first race (albeit with gravel wheels on)

Nice one. What bike you on? My actual name is Ben.
Just had a look at the startlist. Phil Pearce will likely win my a large margin. Some other quick guys though

Nice one Ben, I'll be on my gravel bike 👍

Should be at Frome too, not racing but my two boys will be in the under 12s, although that's super early so will probably be gone by the time you lot arrive :)

Panic over think it was just my HRM, after todays ride, back to racing Sunday lol
Anyone know what the first round of the Western CX in Frome will be like? I'm assuming muddy...
I think it drains pretty well there so wouldn't expect any proper mud. Nothing too steep though nothing really flat either. Not massively technical. One section of 180 degree turns on a bank that could be fun if it is slimy.
