Have had a bit more time on Starfield since getting back from holiday and I'm a lot more positive about it now. I've worked out it is possible to travel without needing to go into the map every time, which for me makes it feel much more fluid and like I'm actually connected to piloting the ship so that's good. Find the music brilliant when it comes in at the right times, I like the combat (on ground, haven't really got to any space combat yet) and the more I've now played it the more things have started to make sense. I still haven't had any particularly special moments of awe/excitement that I've had with other space games but I'm currently doing an introduction to astronomy course and some bits I've learnt from that have been referenced here and there in the game which has been nice. Might all get a bit samey and tedious eventually but for now I like it and keep thinking about playing it whilst doing other stuff.
Not necessarily a Starfield thing but I do wish that there was a Universally agreed button for Menus/Inventory/Map stuff though. I'm playing in far third person and the amount of times I've switched to first person when wanting to check my inventory/map/skills is far too high.
