  • Good God, that's beautiful. What's the damage? I'm at a point where I'll be getting rid of guitars, it's gotten a bit silly at my place. And it feels so good when the cash hits your account.

  • I think they'd be fine on a rosewood neck but not on maple. It would almost be a signature Rowly guitar.

  • I'm a huge fan of Firebirds, love the reverse but I'm coming around to the non reverse.

Shame the non-reverse lost the headstock / tuners from the reverse (I assume weight / cost issue?) - the reverse has the ones of the best headstock anyone's ever made imo.

  • I always think of it as a ‘70s jazz bass look.

I tried a Squier Jazzmaster with a maple board and block inlays when I was shopping around for a Jazzmaster and it really threw me when playing - wasn’t used to the look at all.

  • Yeah, a mate of mine has a 70s reissue Fender bass with that neck and I really, really don't like it. Looks totally wrong to me.

  • Well my buddy brought the firebird home. He fucking loves it. Well chuffed for him.

  • Ah good for him! Looks like a lovely guitar alright!

In other news I had a play on this and it really surprised me... I'd quite like one actually...

  • You ever get those days when your whole setup seems to sound like absolute dog shit no matter how much knob twiddling you do? 🙃

The urge to buy new kit to fix the problem is strong!

  • All the time, then the next day it's fine! More gear is always/never the answer. 🤡

    @Dooks-Fatberg Woop!! 🍾

PS On the subject of GAS I'm getting the pedal on the left tomorrow. My mate Nick is training himself up to be an amp maker and making a bunch of super limited pedals to get his chops up to speed. I've already got his Treble Booster, this is a MOSFET preamp boost. He's making me a super modded Fuzz Face next.

  • just coz Devin is using headless guitars now doesn't make them cool. or even acceptable.

  • Ichika Nito

More this vibe than tech metal for me to be honest... I like that it's small enough and light enough to be a travel option but the neck really felt superb... one of those guitars that makes you play better.

  • ouch. slap him with the prog label by all means, but he's not throwing out repetitive meshuggah-worship riffs and pulling crab poses

Ichika Nito is a new one for me, pretty mind bending that!

  • anyone in here played an Epiphone Uptown Kat? I always fancied a Wildkat BITD, discovered that these things happened, but oddly they seem to be disappearing

  • I always hated headless guitars with a passion. Saw Deerhoof the other day and Ed was rocking one. Not saying I’m softening on the issue but he can make anything look (and sound) cool.

  • Played a headless bass once and it completely messed with my head. I was playing everything about 3-4 frets up the neck because my brain wouldn’t accept that there’d be nothing above the first fret.

  • Why isn’t it on a hanger?

  • I guess I never put much stock in them

  • Ooh… bin asked to join a sludgy doom metal band. Gonna need a stack or three. Hehe.

  • Nothing more fun imo. Downtuned guitars, hella loud, mates in a rehearsal room, beers and Matamps. Brilliant.
