If possible, I’d reapply the original first, then a new wider strip over the top. If the old tape doesn’t fix down, trim the loose section out instead of tearing the whole lot off; the tape might be joined really solidly and tear the jacket membrane
The two-layer is fine, but it’s lighter, and not as nice quality, similar in character to electrical tape rather than textile. I’ve used it a few times for initial mock-up samples, then moved onto the three-layer as sampling progressed to ‘proper’ finish garments.
