I had the same but volume was stuck. In the end I had to factory reset the remote and it was fine.

Is it the new one or the stupid glass one? Either way, almost certainly dirt / dust underneath the buttons. They're not really user repairable so try to clear it with some contact cleaner or some isopropyl alcohol and, if that doesn't work, buy a new one.
