YouTube has suspended Russell Brand’s ability to earn money on the platform following allegations of rape and sexual assault in a massive hit to his finances.

The video-sharing and social media site said it had suspended Brand’s channel from the YouTube partner programme after serious allegations against him, meaning his videos are no longer able to be monetised on the platform.

Does this mean they've not restricted access to any of his videos. So essentially they can still earn money from the videos but he can't?

  • Yes, though I believe his videos fall under certain brand safety categories that mean most brands would be excluding his videos from their ad campaigns but I don't think Google have removed his videos from potential ad delivery.

I'm one of five YouTube Premium subscribers on the planet so I can't check but watch a video and, if you get an ad then they're making money.
