• Picasa was discontinued, i like using for quick and dirty fixes of pictures.
Also the organizing part of it was quite convenient.

Right now i'm using GIMP but it's a bit heavy and complicated for making quick fixes.

Anybody have recommendation for a Picasa replacement? Btw, using Linux.

  • Might be not quite what you are looking for but I've found the Iphone Lightroom App Free contents to be very useful

  • Good question, I was using Picasa on Linux as I've not got the patience for GIMP.

Nowadays I do all my edits in VSCO on my phone - even 35mm scans.

  • PicMonkey.

  • Similarly I've started doing my edits (digital raw and film scan jpg) solely on my phone, but using Snapseed. Find it much more intuitive than using Lighroom (either desktop or mobile).

Shame I took out a Lightroom subscription four months back.

  • Was just looking at Snapseed, but recent iOS11 version reviews not so good?

  • VSCO on the phone is good. It does all the perspective correction etc and if you have a camera with wifi, it's handy for quick edits.

  • Coming fresh into the new version of Snapseed, I have zero issues. The best photo editing app I've used.
A quick google and it seems as though most people coming from the old version have an issue with the change from black to white background, and the tool layout ?

For those editing film scans on iPhone - what do you use to change the date of the photo ? None of the mainstream photo apps seem to allow you to change it

  • DxO OpticsPro 11 is free until the end of November

  • So any dark table users?

  • yes, i really like it.

  • Flickr, 500px or EyeEm? What do people use for photo sharing these days?

  • Sadly, Instagram. It's mostly a terrible platform for sharing and discovering, but it's what everyone uses. Finding a good few aggregator accounts who share your tastes helps a lot.

Flickr seems to be having a slow drawn out death. 500px is a platform for selling photos, and some people aren't particularly happy with it at the moment. Wasn't aware of EyeEm before, but seems geared to touting your photos to corporations ?

I'm intrigued by 1x.com, but the current subscription model puts me off. Anyone on here use it ?

  • What do people use for photo sharing these days?

    tumblr.

  • Anyone tried ARS ?

I'm liking it so far. Had for more honest criticism on my photos than any other platforms, and it's kinda fun to critique other peoples.

  • I'm now after a batch HEIC to JPEG conversion tool (whilst maintaining as high a image quality as possible), any recommendations? Happy to pay if it's decent software. Cheers

  • I'm going to bring this one back from the depths.
I'm looking to create an online gallery of wedding photo's to send to people who attended.
Would like to send a link to them of the selected images, and give them the option to download any that they like. Would like the gallery to be nice to view the images in ideally, rather than the folder system on google drive say..
Is there a particular site I should be looking for (did a quick google, got confused, most seem to want you to subscribe), should I just upload to flickr (I have a flickr pro account) and send from there?
    I'm thinking it'll be 20-30 pictures max.

    Any ideas let me know

  • There's no longer a free tier but Photobucket?

  • looking at it now.

  • I'm with @lynx, surprised no one has mentioned Darktable: free, powerful, and has useful features for batch-processing photos. learning curve can be a bit steep but there are comprehensive tutorials online. my personal favourite is Bruce Williams.

  • Anyone know of any free sites that are reliable for resizing files for prints?

  • Thanks.

  • Have a photograph taken along London Bridge that I really want to crop a car out from. Have a few photos taken from the same place with the same focal length (but the camera was not stationary) which I could use to stitch together the background from - is there an AI software that will do this in a fuss free manner or will I have to do this manually in PS/LR? Would also welcome tips as to how difficult this would be to do in PS/LR.
