Carpets are awesome. Shoes off here. Do make exceptions from time to time

No, unless I'm just going out, just got in.
Not so much the dirt aspect (we have crappy laminate throughout) but when I'm at home I want to be comfortable.

Our conveyancing solicitors were great (Streathers).
The solicitor handling the probate sale of the place we bought was a useless prick - came right before exchange saying upstairs neighbour didn’t want us using the shed that sits under their steps to the rear garden because it’s technically on their land (little strip sticking out so they can legally use the steps from terrace to garden).
A bit taken aback, I went full Putin* and said “okay, but they can’t use the shed either because they’d need to stand on our land to actually use it”.
Solicitor came back, had spoken with the neighbour, and “okay not to worry, please go ahead and use the shed”.
Anyway… turns out there was no such comment from upstairs neighbour (or they’re a liar who didn’t want to mess with someone willing to go full Putin) and the solicitor had taken the shed issue to them saying we’d brought it up.
*cuntishly unreasonable to get my own way

Front door gone, broadband down* as the cables came through the door frame. New frame and door hopefully all done by the end of the day...
About £1700 all in through a local chippie rather than £6k for London Door Company.
* Tethering through iPhone for the day.

Yeah, so we are strictly no shoes in house at all. Have house slippers etc and just keep slides out the back to wear in garden. But I always see people walking around houses on tv/IG or whatever in their shoes. Seems like a mixed bag on here too

If there was a tv crew filming me in my house I would put shoes on. Couldn't tell you why though.
Whats good in the world of house slippers? My furry birkenstocks that have seen better days

Is wearing shoes inside the house primarily a northern European thing? Or just a British thing?
I remember seeing pictures of the last inhabitants of St Kilda and they didn't wear shoes inside or outside.
So who knows?

Plakolm Austrian hut slippers but not for summer months or nipping outside.

Leaking towel rail radiator - it’s shot.
The pipe centres are 44cm apart - impossible to find this spec.
I can get a 45cm wide one - am I going to be able to spread the pipes by 5mm each side without leaks? Obviously the pipes are all tiled in with no easy access.

Probably, but if not you could add an elbow either side and switch to vertical valves so you can absorb the 5mm of sideways movement into the new uprights of the stems? It won't look as tidy as having stems straight into the wall...

Need a new washing machine.
Unfortunately it's in the kitchen set into a 60x89cm gap in the units, but that's where the replacement needs to go. The door covering it opens from hinges attached to the washing machine and closes with a little magnet to keep it closed.
Does anyone have a recommendation?
We have two kids so decent capacity and efficiency prefered. But don't have loads to spend right now, so whatever the budget oriented price point is.
Please shout if there is anything non-standard in this setup (I can't actually remember the last time I saw a hidden washing machine in a kitchen so unsure).
Cheers.

That's a pretty standard size. And the "built-in" aspect (hinges attached, etc) is called an "integrated" washing machine.
John Lewis have a bunch: https://www.johnlewis.com/browse/electricals/washing-machines-tumble-dryers/washing-machines/integrated/_/N-afhZ1z0rnds?sortBy=priceLow
Anywhere that provides a removal/fitting service should also move the hinges/door/magnets over to the new machine, but it's a pretty easy job to do yourself all in.

Cheers for that.
Downstairs yes, upstairs mainly no.
No fitted carpet downstairs.
