  • So picked up this on eBay on the weekend and collected on my way home from work. First impressions are that it's huge fun.

    First things to sort are
    a) the rack which has a hard life, hoping a local fabricator is going to have a go at that for me

    b) change the seatpost clamp out for a qr version, for easier adjustments between riders

  • Lovely bikes. FYI I drove mine on the roof of my car in to a height barrier and smashed the basket which luckily acted as a crumple zone - Orbea sell replacements direct from their website. Part number X4470000.

  • Cheers, good to know I can get a replacement if repair does t work out

  • extremely jealous

  • Nice, keen to hear how this turns out. Have always been tempted by them.

Instead of a QR seatpost clamp...what about a dropper

  • interesting thought, but think i'll stick with simplicity of qr for now

  • Katu‘s are awesome, even more fun with bigger tires!

  • I've just picked up a Katu and I want a bag for the front basket but I'm clueless as to which one to get, I don't suppose you have one you'd recommend?

  • Can’t confirm it will fit, but when I looked I almost bought this, close dimensions IIRC https://freshtripe.co.uk/ral-wb-loader-basket-bag/

  • I spent last night trying a number of bags I already own and the best fitting duffel I have is this:

It might be useful to you but it might not.

  • Hey I also picked up one of these a few months ago

I fitted a Thule child seat on the rear (the clamp fits snug with the battery). Not sure if thats of interest for you though

I also managed to get a 20“ Racktime rear rack on this beast. Challenge here was that it needed to fit in between the fender AND the Thule

Spent 3 hours or so cutting the rack, filing, drilling new holes and re-painting. By that lowered it by approx 4cm

The end boss was that on the NDS the seat stay interferes with the front rack strut (on the drive side theres enough space as there is the fixation screw for the belt drive) so I had to bodge a little bit - see first pic

  • Nice, tried panniers on that?

  • Thanks!

Not ridden but I mounted my ortliebs while parking

Should work i assume (especially since this is the reason I mounted the rack for)

  • Look good - was all the fettling of the rack specifically because of the child seat?

I’ve just jumped on the bandwagon and trying to work out what pannier rack to get.

  • how are the katu owners enjoying them? should I buy one, is basically what I’m asking

  • For us, couple with no kids, Town/City riding

    Pros
    -super fun
    -nibble, takes up little space
-carry capacity for errands, and shops
    -easy to ride

    Cons
-at 6'4 I'm probably slightly beyond the max size of person

  • picked one of these up now - heaps of fun. bit disorienting at first that the basket doesn’t move when you steer

  • Did you manage to find a rear rack that fits? I have just ordered a Katu and would like to put a crate on the back

  • what are good fat tyres to throw on a katu ?

  • Is this the katu thread now?! Feels like a hikack of someones project. I got one of these now for dad / me at home. Looking forward to giving it a go around Devon lanes.
