I would put some wireless headphones in there and check it's playing ok. If the belts have gone you might not want to take on the repairs.
After that you could get a small class d amp and some speakers or some powered speakers.
The other audiophile thread is a bit more active.

So I’ve recently been buying tapes for my campervan but want to listen to them at home, because Luddite.
My boss has just given me this, but I don’t currently own and amp, speakers or any other hifi equipment.
What’s the minimum I need to get my crackle and hiss on?
Obvious answer is to painstaking assemble the period correct matching bits but that’s not a rabbit hole I’m willing to go down yet.
Bare bones budget options to get me going?
