  • Former Neo and Flux (don't get the Flux) user currently on a Kickr 18 (v4?). I'm lucky enough to have a permanent setup, but the outer arms of the Kickr also fold inwards if you need so maybe a similarly small footprint to a Neo if needed? I'm very happy with the Kickr and would never go back to a Tacx, probably out of blind loyalty and being in the Wahoo "ecosystem". If you want to ride without plugging in, Neo is the only option though.

  • I thought fans for turbo were unnecessary bullshit because my turbo was in an unheated garage the space was cool enough or I could open the doors. But I would finish each session dripping with sweat and have a massive puddle beneath me. And I couldn’t open the doors in summer because of wasps and hornets (which can cause anaphylactic shock in me).

When I finally succumbed and bought a fan I would finish sessions nearly dry, no pool of salty sweat on the floor and because I wasn’t over heating my power output jumped up.

  • Hmm. I’ll have to think a bit more. My turbo at the moment is lighter and folded away and lives under my desk. The direct drive things are about 15kg more and there’s no option to leave it out and set up.
    Still contemplating fans.

    Sigh.

  • Bought a kickr. The epoxy'd in handle on the yellow trainer failed after this morning's "session".

  • They are rock solid, you won't regret it.

  • here's hoping

  • The proper handle makes them quite easy to pick up if you do need to move it.

  • You need a proper fan, don’t be silly.

  • We need an @Chalfie fan club list

    1. DJ no1 fan
    2. DBR bit of a number 2

    Etc etc

  • Massive upgrade. You won’t regret it.

  • Has anyone used both the Tacx neo and the kickr?

    I own both.

  • there’s no option to leave it out and set up.

Burn a bed to make room.

  • I know.
    sad face.

  • Fan list

    1. Stalker
    2. Fantail
    3. Window
    4. Propeller
    5. Foldable
  • And at 22kg, adds some strength work.

  • i could tell no diff between a kickr and a neo 2t

i use 3 vacmasters at one time

  • 3 vacmasters

Are they like a fleshlight? Huge if true…

  • elite Zumo?
just got a second hand one for basic quiet indoor knee rehab spins not sad lonely computer game pretend racing with pretend friends and added likes and stats.

hate turbo’s but this thing is quiet and easy to use. no idea how it integrates with wazzoo and wanking peaks.

  • I got a kickr. Mainly because :
I like the pretend racing, I like losing (which is good because I am good at losing), I like the idea of ERG mode, and I can now use 3 different bikes on it rather than one. Which might be a bad point actually as it's now 3 bikes that can get destroyed by sweat.

Zwift racing is not real racing, but for 12 whatever it is a month I can get beaten by people all over the world. Rather than 20 something per race at cross to get beaten by people I might see in real life.

  • ERG mode

European Research Group mode. Jacob Rees-Mogg comes and shouts at you to ride harder.

  • He’s more likely to leave a note on my saddle.

  • I've got the older style Garmin ANT+ USB dongle and want another. Are they new ones any good or is there a better ANT+ dongle option. Not BT, I have older stuff without bluetooth.

40 fucking quid?! Fuck off Garmin.

Ok, are the knockoffs any good?

  • I'm not sure I'd trust Garmin as having hardware that's any better than any other manufacturer.

Besides, ANT+ has been around for such a long time that I don't see any reason that generic products won't be just as good.

Saying that, I still have this thing working.

  • Yeah, that's what I've got and it has worked for 10+ years. I'm not paying £40 for their new model though so looks like I'll be getting something generic.
