No, I'd disagree. I'm always impressed by the generally high level of quality of the food when in Australia, which does serve to highlight when it's both bad and expensive - stand up, Hudson's Coffee in Cairns airport.
One thing that is kind of charming is that Australians are really proud of their coffee and it's, well, just coffee - as we've come to know it in London.
The riding was good in and around Cairns but Australians are (in general, there were notable exceptions) just plain dangerous when driving around cyclists - hard to tell whether they deliberately choose to close pass or whether they feel that 45cm is adequate separation between a motor vehicle and a vulnerable road user.
That they behave like entitled 5 year olds when called out for it does suggest that they sincerely believe that cyclists should be on the pavement, not on the road. Maybe self-driving cars would make Australia a more equitable place for all road users, that or massive education and enforcement.
