Sorry to hear that, sounds like a lovely keepsake. You would have to send the watch in, but I have used ‘The Watch Guy’ for two of my watches and been happy with the service, you also get great pictures of the process. Curious about the place in Clerkenwell actually as I’ve walked past a few times.

Just wanted to say thanks for The Watch Guy recommendation for a sensitive restore of my late father's Sicura watch. They did a great job, were super communicative, and even gave me pics of the work in progress: https://watchguy.co.uk/cgi-bin/library?action=show_photos&wat_id=6933&tk_id=925915456
It's a really lovely thing I can share with people and they did the work beautifully. Thank you.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a watch service guy in eastish London?
My dad died earlier this year and I've dug out an old watch of his, a Sicura 400 Submariner, which I'd like to get cleaned up and working. Can anyone recommend someone who could do a good job? I want to avoid picking a place at random as I've heard way too many horror stories about repair guys replacing things without consent, and on a watch this emotionally charged, I want to avoid that.
