  • Ooops

  • Lovely, my birth year as well 😬

  • Nice how much?

  • That’s fair. I reckon quite a few Swiss companies do similar but are less transparent

  • What motorbike?

  • Old and tatty, give you a tenner for it

  • I’m not selling it , just someone I know.
But I’ll pass all offers along !!
Think he is looking circa £8000.
Apparently that ref was only made for a short while so is not as common.

  • I think he’s into classic BMW

  • Rolex owner?

Got to be a Bimmer bobber no?

  • That’s nice 😎 shame it doesn’t have the ‘lollipop’ hand which I think would be the only difference between this ref and the later 79090

  • You can get five digit Rolex subs in much better condition for less than eight grand, can't you? Is it particularly rare or something?

  • Apparently lots of the lollipop hands were changed as they suffered from the lume cracking. Indeed many were sold with Mercedes hands from new.
It’s a transition piece not made for long. Apparently.

  • I don’t think there any Rolex subs around for £8000. Not that I’ve seen for ages.
    It’s also soooo much cooler.
But as I said it’s not mine for selling

  • Interesting that a new Tudor is about £4k and an old one is £8k. Is this how things work in the world of watches?

Just curious; obvs I know nothing about this subject.

  • I remember years ago when all the hipsters were buying Tudor subs and putting them on Natos, because Rolex Subs were for their dads and bankers who hadn't yet moved to panerai.

    Teenslane wanted one.

At that point an OK one was basically on par price wise with the tattier Rolex Subs. Which I thought was madness.

  • Yep got it, just that I think the only thing that really made it transitional was the lollipop (on some of them) as otherwise they’re exactly the same as the next model. Think that’s strong money hope he didn’t give 8k trade value, but maybe if he’s patient. Assuming that it’s not a nice full set etc I reckon it is a starting price for a 5 digit sub. Saw a decent looking 16800 go recently for 7.5.

Ha ha @hugo7 tried a nato on my 79090 recently, always seem to end up going back to the bracelet…

  • My understanding is the OG snowflake aka a Tudor Sub has always been the Rolex Sub trump card.

    Hence the price.

Isn't that still the case??? An old tudor sub is worth the price of a tatty rolex... So now they're worth £8k whole rolex are £12k

  • I'd say it's about level now.

  • You may be right as I would be the first to admit it’s not my specialty. Or my thing to be honest.
But lots seem to be between £7k and £9k , but like I say I’m not selling it.

  • Isn't that still the case???

Well, when I check more recently the gap had widened considerably. However, it now I guess it's closing again. But I think it's linked to what type of Tudor Sub right? They seem to range from nearer £5k and I don't think you can get a Rolex sub for anywhere near that.

But this is mainly based on vibes and a bit of a scroll on ebay.
