Due to lying about having a mate in Madrid who is selling me a bike (I know...)
Intriguing …
Edit to say, pics look so good

Definitely need some backstory on the lying thing.

Well I already have two bikes at their summer place in Andalucia, which annoys them no end. My theory was if I was offered a great opportunity from my mate in Madrid then it's a softer land than me schlepping a new bike out there to annoy them in Madrid too. It's possible that I was overthinking this :)
This backfired when he mentioned he already gave it away to his neighbour. And here we are.

Compound lie by covertly schlepping bike from London, and tell in-laws you got it from your mate in Madrid.
Years later a sequence of unlikely events brings mate and in-laws together at social event, truth comes out and it’s mildly excruciating.

Which region in Andalucia are they? Looking for some nice routes near Granada if you have any.

@philphillyphilip More westerly toward Cadiz/Seville so not much use - although there's meant to be some really good riding around there.
If you do have a car though, this route is absolutely spectacular. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/30420487

Just spent the summer in Andalucia with the family while our house got a renovation, and would have loved to have access to a bike (though was too hot to ride most of the time!) - we should have a database of bolt-holes where people have bikes stashed potentially available for borrowing ;P
I have a couple friends in Barcelona, but nothing in Madrid, sorry! -

No spare bike sorry. I'm living in Madrid and can second the amazing riding a short train journey from the city.
La Vuelta today will be in and around the lumps and bumps of El Escorial/Robledo de Chavela. (where my in-laws live)
Will surely be some stunning footage from the helicopter, worth watching the highlights just for the road porn -

what if you'd post a bike to Russy J20 and he plants as your Madrid Mate?
Yeah, niche one I know. My in-laws live in Madrid, so we spend a fair amount of time there each year. I'd love to have and keep a bike out there for riding through the local hills and mountains (little places in the mountains like Rascafría are just incredible).
Due to lying about having a mate in Madrid who is selling me a bike (I know...), I can't take one with me on the next flight, so looking for anything roadworthy and ready to ride in and around Madrid.
Ideally 53/54cm with a budget of up to £500
I expect this to sit unnoticed and dormant forever but you never know...
Here are some unsolicited photos of the mountains near Madrid
