  • Wondering if you can utilise the central slot in the Carradice bracket to install something like this underneath, so it can sit on the stem with a bit of suspension?

    Great work so far!

  • That is excellent!

  • Bloody love the RSF Super C. Swallows up everything needed for a long weekend in the Cotswolds to the point I'm questioning bringing my bar bag. (Probably will for snacks etc).

  • It’s the ideal mix of long flap + plastic buckles isn’t it

  • One of the springs on my bagman support seems to have parted company with the rest of the unit. Anyone had any experience of this issue and resolved it, or had any support from Carradice with it?

  • Can't imagine that Carradice would quibble about sorting you out. They have excellent post sales service.

  • Little quick review of the keswick handlebar bag - bought it for my commuting bike but it was just too wide for 40-42cm bars and sits a bit high so it's gone on my partners flat bar hybrid. She loves it - super easy to take on and off the bike, fits wallet, phone jumper and all the other stuff she'd normally have in a litle backpack but works much better on the bike. Comes with a little shoulder strap and actually looks ok when off the bike and she can clip her helmet to it.

Just another really nice practical bit of carradice kit for practical bikes. Made by Kelly.

  • Had the exact same on one of my bagmans, annoying. This reminds me actually to chase up with them - had emailed about spares but never heard back. Let me know if you get any intel

  • My girlfriend is looking for a better option to carry her laptop in, any reason the Odyssey XL won't work with this setup? Saddle is pretty low and the mudguard does take a bit of weight but not much.

  • When it happened on mine about 7 years ago, they sent a replacement spring and pin the next day, no charge.

  • Here is my attempt to recreate the bagman quick release at the front, the mounting is easier than I expected but threading on the nut for the quick release skewer is slower than the original.
Is there some kind of push on lock thingy for a 5mm threaded rod?

  • Top bodging. Like this a lot.

There must be some kind of lever-action rubber compression fitting available somewhere, along the lines of a schraeder valve adaptor on a track pump?

  • How about a round wire lock pin, or trailer hitch pin type thing?
Not sure about the available dimensions and whether the loop would interfere or not.

  • I didn't see any that would be long enough.

  • I've read that the bagman support weight limit is 10kg, and am wondering if I can assume this for off-road riding or just traditional road-like tours. I'm doing KAW next week and wondering whether I should get the support struts (ideally I wouldn't).

I don't know my bag weight yet, will depend a bit on what limits I am confined by.

  • I've done some off road touring with just the bagman, 6kg bag, was fine.

I'd probably consider the supports though if any heavier.

  • I broke the bolt on my bagman this summer. Rode mainly on gravel roads and I'm quite sure I had less than 10kg of stuff in there.

  • What could possibly go wrong?

  • What’s the script on reproofing a Carradice? Had mine for a few years now so probably needs doing?

  • This stuff is cheaper than the alternatives and works well. Use hairdryer to help soak in and even out the coating

  • What could possibly go wrong?

Load up with tinnies and ride with permanent wheelies?

    Looks ace, nicely done!

  • Bought.

So, apply over whole bag then hairdryer or do it bit by bit?

  • Yep it works itself in the cotton very easily. Do ensure you brush the bag thoroughly first, light wipe all over, leave to dry and apply lots of stuff all over. I did not bother with hairdryer, I left a bag in airing cupboard hanging under the boiler for couple of days.

  • Nice one. Cheers.
