These couple of fuck heads out on stripping bikes today by sainsburys new england st. On the bench he had a large holdall full of seatpost and handlebars so don't lock your bike up in the area if you see him sniffing about. The guy in the background with the black cap and hoodie is his partner in crime

I’m seeing more people riding fixed gear in Brighton. Saw a lovely lo pro being ridden up the bear road the other day.

I’ve seen a few more lately too. A few old create/mango off the peg type ones but there’s a bloke I’ve seen a few times on a blue and white vigorelli recently.

A massive, massive plug for the staff at Sea Lanes who stopped a bike thief angle grinding the lock on my wife’s brand new electric cargo bike and stored it until we got back.

whuuuuuut, was it locked up by the toilets?
-

It was in the covered racks just East of the entrance to the pool.
We got back and found a note saying ‘we have your bike’.

Just had a little altercation with a couple of junkies one of them riding a clearly stolen older silver/grey Specialized Demo 8 with red Boxxers. About 3:20 on Blackman Street the one on the bike rode off before I could take a photo. Nearly kicked off. North laine seems to be getting worse for this recently. I went into the new Co-op on London Road last week and I swear I was the only customer in there with a full set of teeth. What do you do in these situations? The Police don't seem bothered and so far it's not been my bike involved. Do you just ignore it? It doesn't feel right to do nothing and I do struggle to bite my tongue but I'm also feeling its only a matter of time before I end up rolling around with someone 🤷♂️

Unfortunately I don't think there's much you can do other than having a row with someone who has a lot less to lose.
I've noticed it increasing steadily for several years now. But I'll refrain from getting political on here 🤣
Edit: I think I saw the guy you're talking about yesterday by the London Road Sainsburys -

The two guys from the Sainsburys at least one of them is dealing Class A as well. I thought that would have been a nice little 2 for 1 for the police if they were able to pick them up but they may as well have had a cardboard cutout at the front desk for all the help the officer was. It was a different crew today two guys and a woman with long red hair all cracky looking.

That's exactly what I thought they were up to too. I've seen many an obvious smack/spice deal though. But it's worth mentioning I used to live right next to that sainsburys, then near Preston Street/regency Square and have spent a fair bit of time on St James' Street 🤣

I reported the attempted theft of my wife’s bike as Sea Lanes said they would release the CCTV to the police. But had to do it online as the person I spoke to on the non emergency line was completely uninterested once they understood the theft had been thwarted.

I am surprised there isn't a more secure enclosure for bikes at Sea Lanes considering how much money was invested in the whole development. Just a fenced area with obvious CCTV overlooked by reception that you have to swipe in would be good maybe with some paid bike lockers for those that want the extra security. There's always plenty of new looking £1500-2k gravel bike racked up out the front. As it is I'll get a beater if I join but that does mean I'll be doing most of my commutes on that as well. Good that the staff did intervene in your case though

There are racks on the beach side of the tracks that are next to reception and a bit more away from the public. I’ll be using them in the future.
But I agree, I think there’s a fair few tri people riding expensive bikes to their swim sessions.

That does sound better. I thought it was just the racking out front. I Should pay more attention then I would also be better at bike tag

There's dozens of us!! dozens haha
no clue who the guy on the vig is tho.

• #946
Same guy that tried stealing your wife's bike? Same area with an angle grinder. Did you get to see the cctv?
-
• #947
aaah! the comments!
-
• #948
Maybe? Unfortunately there’s almost certainly more than one.
They said they would only release the CCTV to the police.
-
• #949
Yeah. Don’t go there. Just don’t.

Yeah the comments 😂 but if I don't read BIKE THEIF STONED TO DEATH BY 20 MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC in next week's Argus I'll be bitterly disappointed
