  • Booked in for my first tattoo next Friday. Artist recommended by a friend, paid a deposit. Aiming for something like thishttps://www.instagram.com/p/Bp_7VOjAIux/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== on my side at chest height, but a dove as the bird. Unfortunately the person who did the one I linked has moved to Australia.
Not yet seen what the person I’ve booked in with has sketched yet, or had any input on it, or had any info on what I need to do in preparation!

  • it's pretty unusual to be sent the design ahead of time, too many people have been stung by that customer going to get someone else (cheaper) to copy it. Don't feel any pressure to just agree if you don't like it though, they'll be able to tweak on the day.

the only prep should be to not have been out on the piss the night before and to eat well

  • Definitely eat before hand. Something with some sugar.
I nearly passed out on my first one having had it on an empty stomach. Fine for the rest though

  • Jesus.. there's some proper wak tattoos on here!!!

  • Come off it mate, it's not your body

  • Come on then big man, show us what you got

  • Big man ting...

  • Big man ting

  • You got 2 different full back pieces? You can't throw shade without showing us what you've got

  • Get in the bin cupcake.
All tats are equally valid as far as I’m concerned. Big fancy Japanese body suits are certainly a great piece of work but they’re by no means the only work worth considering.
That’s like saying renaissance realism is the only form of ‘art’ worth appreciating.

Come on then, show us what you’ve got.

  • Good luck, as others say, well fed and hydrated. Sides can be a bit of a bastard if it’s all new to you but if it’s gonna be small you’ll be done pretty quick.
I like to have a lucozade on standby for afterwards.

  • How did you manage to get it to look different from different angles? I want a holographic tattoo too.

  • dont get jealous.. all the sexy cool people have left this site because they ride fixed with no brakes.. When's this website changing its name as everyone on here is on over £75K and drinks oatmeal chai lattes xx definately not a fixed gear forum!

  • Of all the places to rile against the gentrification of LFGSS you choose this thread? Not the "look at my multiple Porsches" or anything. Odd.

  • as everyone has said, be well fed and hydrated.

I always take a full bore soft drink (Cherry Coke is a personal fav)

Don't worry about flinching, it happens to everyone, and the artist is well used to it.

Don't be afraid to ask for a break if you are uncomfortable (even if it is only to stretch your legs for a minute)

Have some old sheets on your bed for a couple of days because you will put ink on them.
(same with clothing, dont wear your best t shirt)

  • Innit. I like this thread as it still seems to be populated with the grungy lowlifes of the forum like myself.
    Golf thread >>>>

@user121215 we’re still waiting to see your impeccable and well considered tattoos…
Also, anyone who describes something as a ‘big man ting’ is likely to be a spoddy posho from the Home Counties, just sayin’

  • Vaseline is fine to help transfer a stencil onto my arm, right?

  • Yep, should be fine. All the old heads I’ve been done by still use it.

  • all the sexy cool people have left this site

Your presence here would suggest you’re not sexy or cool then

  • Don't worry - he's wrong. I'm sexy and cool.

  • Any tips on where forum members get that additional +£50k from? Asking for a friend.

(No worries if you’re just trolling because you’re too sexy and cool tho)

  • It’s been a long while since I’ve got any new tattoos (7/8 years) but I’m beginning to get the itch again.

I’d really like something by Caleb Kilby: https://instagram.com/calebkilby?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==. I’ve admired his geometric panthers for years.

Anyone been to Old Habits in Dalston before?

  • My wife had a bad reaction to a red ink previously..

Apologies for the epic dredge (only just discovered this thread)..

This has possibly been done to death but my wife is also having a reaction to red ink (raised, discoloured skin and some itchiness, very obviously on the small red parts only)... but the kicker is that this has only appeared 2.5 YEARS AFTER getting the tattoo and has now been continuous for a further year..

Any ideas as to the trigger or possible solution?
