Thru Axles and Security for a Roadlite - a real pain!

Posted on
  • I'm trying to find a security option for my Roadlite AL SL 8.0 so the wheels are less prone to theft.
I've already got Hexlox on the bike and have spent ages trying to get the correct front and rear axle measurements to then locate the right Hexlox axle

    https://hexlox.com/collections/hexlox-products-that-protect-thru-axle-wheels-against-theft/products/thru-axle-lock?variant=4513592737822

So it appears that Roadlites have 12x100mm for the front, and 12x142mm for the rear - Thread pitch: 1.0mm

Based on various brands online, this is kinda non-standard, with the front generally starting at 120mm - super annoying

Can anyone suggest a security option that would work - happy to carry around a security key to take the wheel off in the event of a puncture. Thanks

  • 12x100 is the standard. That measures between the inside faces of the fork. The axle actually goes outside to outside faces of the fork ends so is longer. Take your 12x100mm axle out and measure it. It may well be around 120mm

  • aaaaaah thats makes total sense (I'm learning this stuff). Thank you. Will give it a look.
