  • What about quality and compatibility issues? I know even cheap cables had to adhere to some kind of apple standard due to licensing deals, but is this the case with USB-C as well?

  • There are plenty of shit iphone cables out there too. Buy from decent suppliers (probably still at a lower cost than a licensed iphone cable) and they are fine, particularly just for phone charging. It's when you get to the high power charging and data that you run into problems.

    At some point in the future I'll be glad to cut down on the number of cables we have plugged in and only need to take one extra cable (watch charger) away with me.
