  • My Aerodyne is a Jazz Bass, not a Strat. I do have a Strat though, and your trem arm look like it might be a little bent just above the threaded section? Hard to say without seeing it unscrewed

  • 9.5 radius, so spot on (IMO).

Ooh, yeah, perfect. Must be the ones without the scratchplate that are 12". Love the colour and the painted headstock etc. too. Spot on.

  • Oh nice. Might look in to one of those for the other half when she's ready to upgrade from the Squire Classic Vibe Jazz.

It's a new trem arm, might just be the wrong pitch / size, even though it went in o.k.
Love an excuse to head back to Found Sound. Another incredible guitar shop round the corner.

  • Ah yeah, you're right. The Aerodyne Special has the 12" radius. I think these came out after the Aerodyne II.

  • If the arm’s not bent, then you can lower its angle by loosening the tremolo spring claw under the back cover - the bridge looks to be canted back a bit, you might prefer a more level setting.

  • Thanks mate.
I'm going to get it a full service this week I reckon.

Just tossing up whether I do it myself or get the lgs to do it.
If I can build a bike...

    What does everyone else do?

  • I normally make the problem ten times worse trying to fix it myself then hand it to a professional who charges me twice what it would've cost if I'd gone to him in the first place.

    Much like my bikes.

    Plus ça change. 😋

  • Well I’m guessing I can post that project I was working on now it’s owner has her mitts on it ;)

  • Window shopping on Denmark St at the weekend. John Squire’s Les Paul used on Love Spreads (according to the price label). £15k.

There’s a 1972 black custom across the street for £7k, so £8k for the Stone Roses stardust.

  • Woah, that's insane.

Do you have any 'making of' pics?
    Stunning.

Update on the angled wiggle stick for anyone interested:
Apparently the hole is drilled at an angle so the trem arm is straight up when it's not decked. It's supposed to be floating. ( As rodan said.)
    You live, you learn.

  • Epic! Nice work.

  • Amazing project, thanks for sharing.
Please tell us that it doesn’t weigh a ton

  • It’s not too heavy, fairly sure those carved top teles are chambered and there’s a rear contour that shave a bit as well . The mirror is only 1.5mm thick. Overall I’d say it’s no worse than a regular tele..

  • That's really cool. Do you grout the tiles at the end?

  • Is she famous? Nice. Not to my taste but appreciate the work that's gone into it.

  • Yes it’s grouted afterwards to seal it all up and make the edges a bit less vicious.

I guess she’s relatively famous given her insta following and she seems to play a lot of shows all over Europe.
She’s a Fender featured artist so presume they’re predicting big things for her.

  • Anyone interested in a Partscaster made of a lovely 1998 Mexican Fender neck with a vintage 7.25" radius, paired with a Squier body and some mystery upgrade parts like CTS pots and what could be an American pickguard and no-idea-what-they-are-but-they-sound-decent pickups?

It plays really nicely but I bought it on a whim and I just don't need it and can't justify having it when I have another Strat already.

  • Vintage style frets? Any pics?

  • They're narrow and tall, so I think so. The whole thing has actually got a lot of mojo and it plays really nicely. But I have a Strat - which was a childhood present from my dad so will never get sold - and can't justify another really. Anyone's welcome to come try it in SE.

  • Just realised how dusty that wall hangar looks in a massive pic. Apologies. Having work done in house (another good reason not to have bought another guitar).

  • Looks really nice! I like the 70s-ness of the black plate and plastics.

Do you know what the bridge/trem is?

  • Mystery bridge and trem.

  • I decked and undecked my trem and I knew nothing about setup.
This guy is super clear with his instruction

  • I find setting up guitars to be like dialling in derailleurs: simple in theory, tricky in practice at first, but ultimately easy enough if you're relaxed and calm and take it slowly and methodically. If you find yourself getting frustrated, go away and have a cuppa.

  • I swear by the Fender setup guide for Telecasters. Never fails, I use it for all 25.5” guitars.
