what are the chances of outsprinting one of these on a bike?
Unless you’re regularly winning scratch races at the velodrome, or are sprinting downhill, I’d wager the chances are close to zilch (not zero because the dog could always trip).
Edit - realised you’re talking about outsprinting a bully dog. That’s more feasible, given their approx 25 mph sprint speed. Other big hunting breeds are faster, and accelerate quicker, than most cyclists.
i've seen a woman walking (or rather being dragged by) one of these big muscular dogs on my commute a few times recently, before the latest attack hit the news.
it looks as if she has barely any control over it.
this is on a shared use path that has lots of school kids walking, running, scooting along it at the same time.
i'm always a bit wary when passing as i don't want to startle it or give it any reason to chase me.
