  • Yesterday's social trail run included a sketch stop. Took me several goes to get my colour mixes anywhere near what I wanted, but was quite pleased with the sketching and proportions of my drawing.

    What a great idea!

  • Turning this into an experiment.

  • First ever go with watercolours after being inspired by @Technics100.

First effort on left with out of proportion clock tower, second go on right.

  • Yes art club. Made me feel I need to get out and do something creative. Great work everyone 👏

  • Couple of pieces. Spray paint and water colour on an old roller blind and spray paint water colour and acrylic on a2 paper.

  • It begins.

I should point I have no idea what I’m doing

  • Nice work, love the colours

  • Taking shape nicely!!

On a similar theme of not knowing what I'm doing.... I am still dabbling with the watercolour set.

Did this one on the beach yesterday

And had another go at the church (it is the view from my tent) this time I have tried to dilute the paint more to give lighter feel.

  • The only thing that’s bothering is the thickness of the paint. Once I’ve added some oil it’s like water.

I saw a video on YouTube about adding talc. Seems plausible.

  • Nice vibrant colours @Rich_G. And it seems @eskay has a lot of fun too, these days 😏 I should do outside drawing a bit more often myself.

@Light_EDDed the portrait is really shaping up nicely. Colour combination feels right too. I must say I never tried to thicken the paint, I just use more of it. Should try talc too, probably less spendy than oil paint.

  • Corn flower has also been mentioned. I’ve run out of white paint which I didn’t realise was such an important colour

  • White is the only colour I buy in 200 ml tubes because you need it for almost everything.

  • These are looking good.. yes the lighter the better I find.. beach one is cool.. Landscapes are not something I've done a lot of..

  • This time I am back to coloured pencils (which took about twenty times longer than the watercolours above!)

  • Just because everyone loves seeing his work, I want to shout out Technics100 for agreeing to accept a commission - sent him a pic of my folks' place and he just sent back the finished pic which is absolutely perfect and means I have their christmas sorted in September, which is definitely some sort of record. Cheers

  • Waaw, both the house and the watercolour!

  • Thanks to @owl for the commission, great fun to do. although I normally doodle with no pressure. But glad he likes it and hopefully his parents will too.

Thanks @WimVDD.. yes I agree great house to paint..

  • Amazing art work. Chocolate box

  • Second this!!

  • Just finished another effort in watercolour

@Technics100 - another question if you don't mind! What pen are you using? I am sketching with a pencil but I quite like the darker lines in your paintings.

  • Really like the reflections on the water here!
