  • Seeing as you're down in Oz as well riddle me this. Best bang-for-buck, sleeper, two door hot hatch?

I was thinking about getting a BRZ/86 but they're so spendy now. Same deal with the Suzuki Swift Sport. GTIs on the other hand are so attractively priced but most look dodgy AF.

Also my finance went through today so I take delivery of an Isuzu D-Max X-Rider on Monday. So much for going green. 🙄 Can't lie tho', I'm very fucking excited. Yet so, so conflicted. 🌏🔥

  • Embrace your inner bogan.

  • Cairns tomorrow- there’s a non zero chance I buy a Torana.

  • Are you sure you want my advice? I'll recommend something oldish and french!

What's the budget and how old would you go?

  • Pop in and say hi on your way thru. The great ones are so much cash now.

    https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1979-holden-torana-s-uc-auto/SSE-AD-15010356/

Ford Falcon XB Coupe or GTFO.

  • I figured, I'm open to suggestions! I just need to think outside the box a little bit. Everything I like is $£€¥!!!

  • Are you in qld? I've seen a few decent Renault Clio 182's and Mégane sport 225's about and for not much money. They'll always need work though.

I wouldn't touch any of the Peugeot 207 GTi... they were shit and there's a reason they are cheap now.

Random, a fun little nugget that is cheap to run is a Toyota echo TRD sportivo.

    Otherwise a Suzuki swift sport.

Find an old proton satria GTi... chassis by lotus.

Edit. Volvo C30 T5R that's unusual and probably not too expensive.

Older minis? The 1.6 turbo ones can be bad though

  • This is less than half the price of a (new) Yaris here: https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1976-holden-torana-sl-r-5000-lh-manual/SSE-AD-15463105/?pageSource=details

But then Singapore car prices are insane.

  • I watched some Larry Chen YouTube thing on Singapore... 100k just to buy the rights to drive a car, let alone purchase! Nuts

  • Random, a fun little nugget that is cheap to run is a Toyota echo TRD sportivo.

Ooh, my mechanic's courtesy car is a little Echo, it's so fun to drive. Coke can on wheels. Thanks, I'll check those out. 🙃

  • Yeah, I saw that- he’s out of date, it’s $138,000 for the road licence now.

  • 6 point socket and a breaker bar? Nearby Lidl may have a 1/2 torque wrench with 3 sockets for 20, so breaker bar on top. Have The Halfords trade card if needed but maybe cheaper from Toolstation/Screwfix etc

Lidl also had a battery operated rattle gun for 60.

  • Yaris in the UK....

  • And you can rotate the wheel :)

  • Just now, north side of Kew Bridge: white'°', convertible 'M'-reg Triumph Stag.
    ULEZ compliant through age?
    ('°' now off-white with UV-aging).

  • Old english white can be an off white.

  • Has anyone got a Blackvue dashcam? Are they really worth the extra cash? The features you get do look awesome but at three times the price they would have to be!!

I don't wanna buy cheap by twice but they're so much cash!! 🤑

  • Posts ^ a long way back. I'm now in Birmingham getting valve stem seals replaced.

  • It's such a minefield. I've got the Vantrue N4 Pro in my Amazon cart but it turns out the parking mode in it is garbage, even tho' image quality is best in class. Ugh. Blackvue has great parking but a shit picture. Vantrue is less than half the price, guess I'll get it and hope for a software fix for the parking sitch.

  • Birmingham

250 miles round trip, £110 to get them replaced. Free advice on all the other stuff wrong with the car. Didn't get murdered.

    10/10 would facebook mechanic again

  • Fucksake. Now the horn doesn't work. I did honk a pigeon earlier but now there's nothing. Is it possible I used up all the horn?

  • I’m parting ways with my 2006 BMW 130i because it has a whole litany of small and not so small issues and it’s now causing more pain than joy. I’m pretty gutted about it, I’m leasing a brand new little 3-cylinder hatch instead and I’ve never been less excited about a new car.

I’ll miss that wonderful noise and the oversteer and the revs and the driving position and….

  • I can’t help. But this really made me lol.
Rocking up to euro car parts
“Can I have 5 litres of horn please, mine’s run out”

  • It's a shame BM don't make a car like this anymore.

  • It seemed to slip under the radar somehow, probably because of the M135i which still commands good money. This I bought for £4k 5 years ago and I can’t imagine how you could buy a more fun car for that sort of money. It’s still worth a grand so I’ve had great value from it, just a shame I can’t justify keeping it going and that beautiful engine will probably be in a scrap heap come MOT time.
