In most peoples opinion the CAAD10 is a race bike, whilst Ed has clearly enjoyed using his as a tourer I'd recommend looking at a range of bikes, including some more conventional tourers before coming to any conclusions.

cannondale's quick range may be suitable, for instance

For a relative newcomer to cycling, looking specifically to do some touring, do people think it's worth spending the extra for a CAAD 10 over a CAAD 8? Any first hand assessment of both? Thanks!
For touring, the 8 would be better than the 10. However, an actual touring bike would be better than either of the two.

Nah, stick with the CAAD8, they're great for the money.
Make sure it's the BB30 version rather than the cheaper square taper one.
Stay the fuck away from anything bb30 in my experience. Especially if you are going to ride in non-dry conditions.

A lightweight alu race bike is prob not the best for touring.

Not very much choice if you want 105 or something similar.

Was looking for an old CAAD 8 thread and came across this (it was actually Jambons CAAD9 that I was thinking of).
How many tours did it do in the end?
