  • what I mean is - in the photo it looks like rusty metal flaking up to reveal a hole in the chainstay bridge, in person it looks (to me) like rust-coloured lacquer flaking up to reveal an intact tube with some surface rust. question is, how can I protect the tube - is it "get the rear triangle resprayed"?

  • TBH Brompton rear triangles do have a reputation for rusting from the inside out. Other than internally applying Waxoyl or similar when the frame is new, I'm not sure what else you can do. Other than speccing Brompton's super light variant which features a Ti rear triangle.
    ETA - Put it to @Rhobbs see what he says.
