  • Long shot, but does anyone have a recommendation for a one sesh pottery class in North London or Hertfordshire?

    Cheers.

  • I got my mum a taster session at Skandi Hus in Clapton for her birthday last year and she loved it.

  • Not done it myself, but have been involved with Jo Davies via work and have been meaning to go to a session some time. North East London

  • They still seem to be sold, yes. I agree that they are often a bad idea. Lots of digital receivers have a problem with too much signal and can need an attenuator.

  • I've done the Jo Davies taster class and it was really brilliant

  • My girlfriend really enjoyed the Skandi Hus one.

  • Cheers and @gbj_tester Will have a look at what other people on the street have.

The loft is boarded out and used for storage so would prefer not to lose too much space to an aerial. I guess I could try and squeeze it under the eaves or the secondary loft where there aren't any boards but access is more awkward and I might need to extend the wiring.

The wiring also distributes the signal across half a dozen rooms which I assume (no idea if it is the case) degrades the signal.

  • Cheers all

You lose amplitude (3dB in a "physics problem", more like 3.5dB in a practical circuit) every time you split the signal, which is why splitter/amplifier (aka distribution amplifier) is still a thing. Six outlets from one aerial needs three passive splitter stages on some outlets, which is -10.5dB. Whether that's a problem is a matter for practical experimentation

  • We did one at Hackney City Farm. It was great

  • What's the technical name of the clip-on small plastic triangle some people have on the side of their cars?

I need one after dodgy driver carved a 2m scratch into the paintwork of my van. Focker.
(and searching on Amazon returned nil).

  • Car door warning triangle brings up quite a few like the ones I’ve seen when out and about. Don’t know how effective they are though. You kind of need one made of hardened steel sprayed fluoro red. Or like people used to put tennis balls on their parking ‘feelers’ back in the day, do that but drill a hole through a French boule and spray it green like a tennis ball.

  • What’s a recommended courier service to ship tyres to Scotland? I need to return some tyres which I thought were folding but they aren’t. Paisley freight wants £19 for it, Royal Mail doesn’t seem to have a service because the box (63x63x10cm) is larger than their medium box limits.

  • You should be able to do a bandsaw blade fold in them, and by doing so reduce their diameter to 10 or 12 inches.

  • If my bike is limited primarily by the brake bridge height at ~25c for a 700c wheel, would I be right in thinking that would be an equivalent radius as 44c on a 650b rim?

    From Sheldon Brown; (622 mm [700c] + (25*2) -584 mm [650b] ) / 2 = 44

  • To a first order approximation. There's a bit more to it than that, so don't commit to 44-584 if 25-622 is within 1mm of interference. You really need to account for rim width and tread band thickness to get a proper estimate.

  • Ta. It looks like there aren't a lot of ~44c tyres anyway so I might just go down to 34c and eat the loss of clearance (running 165mm cranks so shouldn't be the end of the world).

Edit: for "a lot" read "within a reasonable budget for the build I'm considering"

  • I might just go down to 34c

37-584 is a popular size with choices down to £15 even from good brands

  • My Google-fu is clearly weak, I'm struggling to find anything that size

  • My Google-fu is clearly weak

Your google-fu is non-existent, just search "37-584" and scroll past the calculator to find tyres by Schwalbe and Continental

  • I can see Schwalbe Road Cruisers and Conti Ride tour and that's pretty much it ¯\(ツ)

I guess I'd wondered if there was a good vendor (not Amazon) that I was missing

  • Schwalbe Road Cruisers and Conti Ride tour

What don't you like about them? If you expand your search to 38-584 you mostly find tyres in the higher price brackets you also didn't like 🙂

  • Parcelforce will do it for half that

  • Where did the hook-up/mate's rates thread go? 🤔

I'm looking for cheap hotel rates (haha, I know, right?) in London next month. Plz halp.
