Would the shim be a 1 1/8 shim to sit on top of the cover?
You're probably going to need one between the compression ring and the cover

Yes, you'll want a 46×3. If it's exactly 3mm when the compression ring is compressed, you'll still need to hunt through your parts bin for a shim
