Apologies if this isn't the right place to ask but thought it was worth a go. Any recommendations for someone in south east London to have a look at our dodgy underfloor heating?

We're doing some work on our front garden. It's only small and up a steep flight of steps cut into a kind of 'cliff' of stonework. The plaster is blown on the side of the staircase. I presume there's something structural behind it or it would have all collapsed by now. There's also a concrete walkway in front of the bay windows but it's slumping. I'm presuming it's not going to cause the house to collapse and the house itself is on solid foundations and this is just a badly poured bit of concrete in front of it - but to ease my mind, who would I get to check? A structural surveyor presumably via the RICS website?

Unexpected plot twist in the case of my downstairs neighbour being awkward about the loft conversion. He's moving out next week.
Had a reasonably amicable conversation earlier during which he said this might have been the kick up the arse he needed to move out anyway. Still seems weird given it's only a week since the application was permitted, and probably months before any actual work will start. Definitely a(nother) weight off my mind though.

Need some pics! Our old steps /stairs were coming away from the house but the base was thick concrete. Maybe ask a surveyor to have a look. Did you get a survey done when you got the house?

Had some templating for the quartz worktops done today. Hopefully in early next week. Sink will be under hung. At least, with all the appliances now working, means no more trips to the laundrette or dishes being washed in the bath.

Ha ha ha, yes, indeed it is!
Impressed by their thoroughness in templating and the whole cnc setup down in Bellingham. -

I'm getting party wall agreements sorted for an extension at the moment. One neighbour has waved it through on option 1, but the other is going for option 2 - what's that likely to cost me? I've already paid £1,400 for the party wall guy...

Should say in your paperwork.
- Is nowt, but not advised.
- Couple of hundred I think
- 1k ish.
- Base price x2.
If I remember correctly.
- Is nowt, but not advised.

Paperwork says that option 1 is all covered in the £1,400 but that costs will rise and can't be predicted for 2 or 3. Might know more tomorrow as neighbour is going to call party wall guy and explain his situation.

Yeah that’s about it, but can defo be predicted.
Option 4 is fuck you and your guy we are getting our own and you’re paying.
Option 2 is yeah alls cool but let’s make notes. Option 3 is not happy but trust your pro, usually around 800. -

I’d like to hide our freestanding washing machine behind new kitchen base unit door (not up for integrated machine for manifold reasons).
Current machine is ~650mm deep, meaning I’d need to mount the entire run of base units at least 50mm forward and end up with a ~700mm deep worktop.
Am I nuts, or is this commonly done? If not, why?

If you have the space go for it. Ideally get deep cabinets too so you’re not wasting space. I built cabinetry around our freestanding WM and it’s great, doesn’t vibrate anything when it’s spins up and the door stays perfectly aligned. Integrated WMs can do one.

Thanks, have the space so gonna go for it.
Is this what you did to integrate your freestanding one? Got any pics?
-
• #7792
You’ll need a wide door too, this is 653mm which I’d say is the minimum.
