• I’d like to hide our freestanding washing machine behind new kitchen base unit door (not up for integrated machine for manifold reasons).

Current machine is ~650mm deep, meaning I’d need to mount the entire run of base units at least 50mm forward and end up with a ~700mm deep worktop.

Am I nuts, or is this commonly done? If not, why?

  • If you have the space go for it. Ideally get deep cabinets too so you’re not wasting space. I built cabinetry around our freestanding WM and it’s great, doesn’t vibrate anything when it’s spins up and the door stays perfectly aligned. Integrated WMs can do one.

  • Thanks, have the space so gonna go for it.

Is this what you did to integrate your freestanding one? Got any pics?

    +1 I hate ours

Your place looks great. Very well thought out design too.
